How are the parks on the days around July 4th?

We are planning to go to MK on June 30th...the Friday before July 4th.
Are the crowds going to be unbearable?

I was thinking that most people will take off Monday July 3rd from work and take a 4 day weekend so the Friday before may not be too bad?

Any thoughts from the pros?

It's hard to say, but july 4th will be sold out in epcot, MK, and MGM. The parks usually close by 7:00.

I was there 4th of July 2001. It wasn't especially crowded on the days leading up to or after the 4th, but the MK closed very early on the 4th itself. We didn't even try any of the other parks. We spent a relaxing day shopping at DTD and had a wonderful dinner at Narcoossee's. They have a terrace area where restaurant patrons can watch the fireworks on the lagoon. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. A ton of people crammed into the GF beaches to watch the fireworks, but there was plenty of room at Narcoosee's.

I went the weekend of the 4th in 2002. I remember it being extremely crowded and very hot. We went to MK the day of the 4th. After the amazing fireworks show, it was literally so jam packed in park (in fantasyland) that we couldn't move to the exit for at least an hour. Wall to wall people. It was amazing.

Despite the crowds, it's impossible to have anything but a great time in Disney. Just plan out your vacation, get your reservations and have a blast.

It's the most amazing fireworks show you'll ever see!

We did the parks in July once and swore we would never do it again!!
