How are the new cabin sofa beds?

Hi - we are headed down in August for our third cabin stay at the Fort. In the past, dh and I have put the kids in the bedroom and we've slept on the Murphy bed.

While I'm happy about the refurbishment (our last cabin desperately needed it!), I'm a little concerned about the new sofa beds. Are there any reviews? How does it compare?

Thanks!

I absolutely LOVE the sofa beds at Disney. In fact, I prefer to sleep on that vs the new beds they have. The sofa beds are made just for Disney and are not like your traditional sofa bed. They are firm, yet comfortable. When I stayed at the Poly in May, we brought my mother and she tried to give my husband and I the Queen bed and I made her sleep in it instead. If you like a firm bed, they are great.

I would also like to hear from someone who has slept on the Cabins sofa bed.

We also thought the murphy bed was great and am not a fan of sofa beds.

We will be checking into a cabin on Saturday, we also were a fan of the Murphy bed, I will let you know, hopefully it will be comfortable I volunteered my daughter to sleep on it!

You are the hero we need!

I am curious about this as well. If possible could you upload some photos of the sofa, after the trip of course. Have fun.

Thanks for the links!

Tci1212- a review would be great. Otherwise, I will report back in August!

Made my fast passes today - it's getting closer!

Dh and I slept on the sofa beds for 5 nights in cabin 2323 in May. No complaints. Slept well. And we were in Disney at THE Fort! Still love the cabins and fort and for traveling as a family of 6, our favorite option at Disney.

Posting about the sofa bed again...hard, with a "bar" through the middle. Sheets. Don't stay tucked. You really need a fitted sheet for the bottom. I eventually switched to a bunk and I'm almost 70! The bed issue is making us re-think the cabins. I miss the Murphy!

Just looked at the link. Thanks Bama_Ed. My wife and I are very happy with the pictures we saw.

OMG... we just returned from FW as a last minute trip. The sofa bed is horrible - it's like sleeping on the floor. While the cabin refresh is very, very nice, they could have left the Murphy bed and put in a chest of drawers with a TV above it handing from the wall in the space where the old cabinet & TV were. We paid $400 a night to end up being sleep deprived for 2 days of our vacation.

The upside is that housekeeping has some foam pads they can put on top of that horrible mattress that makes it more comfortable, but still, the pads have to be rolled up every day and put back every night because the unit will not close with the pads in place. If you leave the bed open, the entire living room area is unusable.

The bunk beds also have the same type mattress, though it's not as floor-like.

We love FW and the cabins, but will be rethinking staying there in the future. We do not want the "chore" of making and unmaking the bed with foam pads every day, particularly at the rates they are charging.

They really blew it this time............

Beware if you are not used to sleeping on a rock hard mattress.

BTW - they also have these beds in some of the DVCs we've stayed in and won't stay there again either because of it.

Sadly, I think, that unless they install something like a Sleep number bed you will get about half who love it and about half who hate it. I like a bit more firm and my DW likes it much softer.... I believe one of the other posters (besides Mary2e) indicated that it was very firm but that they liked it firm.... Great... They loved it. My DW would probably hate it though.

I think this is one of those questions that can be answered with the "It's Great" or "It's Horrible" response, but rather it's "Soft" or "Hard" (or somewhere in between) and a judgement made by each person.

Agree. However, compared to the regular mattress that was on the Murphy bed, this is nothing more than stiff foam that is as hard as a rock. We didn't like it when we tried it in a DVC, and were shocked to see the same mattress in the cabin. I found another thread with the person making the same comments - that it was like sleeping on the floor. But I get that some like a very, very firm mattress. How about Disney putting in something middle of the road rather than costing their guests sleep? That's the real issue here. They've put in something that half the people won't like, rather than something that would be acceptable to the majority of those staying.

Our several times a year trips to the cabins will be severely curtailed because of this issue. I'm tired enough after a day at Disney. I want to be able to sleep. It's a shame because they really did a nice job with the remodel of the cabins.

We just returned 10 days ago and stayed at the cabins. Husband's cousin slept on the sofa bed for 3 nights and the 11 year old slept on it the rest of the trip. Cousin only stayed those 3 nignts. They didn't complain so they must fall in the 50% that think it's OK. Daughter did love the Murphy bed though and was mad it is gone. I thought the queen bed was very comfortable.
