How are the mosquitoes?

We are going starting June 20th, will they still be bad? Do they bother you all night or just dusk? Are they worse by the water? We are staying in loop 300. Has anyone tried using a fan while sitting at your site? This usually works with mosquitos.

They are usually worse in the early morning and evening. Of course, they are prevalent in or near a wooded area. We were there camping the end of June year before last, and July 4th last year. I saw a couple, but not many at all. We did not get any bites.

Thanks. I also heard of something called ByeBye Deerfly. Has anyone tried this item and if so does it work?

This sounds crazy but I've heard that rubbing a dryer sheet on your skin keeps mosquitoes away, maybe it would work with yellow flies too.

Update: so far we've seen a few yellow flys, but not hoards of blood sucking demons. They're pretty fragile, easily swatted. Zero bites from my crew. We are in 1500 loop. The rain, another story...

Thanks for the update! We are arriving in 2 weeks with a very allergic child and I am worried!!!! I planned for her to be able to eat at Disney, but I never thought of the bugs! Stressing in PA

I'm covered with the darned bites as well. They still itch, and I've been home for 5 days. My legs look awful, and I have 3 bites on my ankle causing it to swell.

While there was one or two near our cabin in the afternoon, I believe I got the worst of the bites at the pool in the early afternoons of Monday and Tuesday. There was a particularly persistent bugger around me both days.

They are nasty nasty creatures I'd never even heard of them before.

We're here now and the bugs in the campground in the evenings have been terrible. Yesterday the worst spot was the Outpost. The whole crowd of us waiting for buses were just wandering around to avoid being bitten! My DDs tried to play on the playground for awhile and I had to call it quits five minutes in. :-( We didn't have on bug spray, though. I'm really hoping that will help.

Is Disney getting lax on spraying/fogging, or does that help with the flies. We went down the week before Memorial Day & did not have a problem with the flies in the 100 Loop, but the mosquitoes were terrible at the Campfire Program.
