How are the crowds in September?

Does anyone know how the crowds are around September (10th - 18th). I know this is a value season but with the free dining I'm not sure if this will have an impact on more people coming.

We've always gone to WDW during July and August. This time we made reservations for Sept hoping that it will be less crowded.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Doug...

It will certainly be less crowded than July and August. Any time school is in session will be less crowded than school breaks.

The dining may entice some people to come who would not have come, but there are too many people who can not take their kids out of school for it to have a major impact.

September will seem like an alien environment, as compared to July and August. You'll wonder what's wrong -- "Where are all the people?"

Shouldn't be crowded at all. Even though some more people will be there for the free dining. What everyone forgets is that drive-up/people staying out side of disney resorts is at one of its lowest points all year. They account for probably account for about 1/3 (if not more) of the people who attend WDW ona given day. Basically what it will mean is an extra 2-5 minutes to get on rides. i've gone twice and sptember and the longest wait for test track has been 10 minutes, most all the others we walk on ,or wait a few minutes. :wizard: :teacher:

we have gone the past few sept, and it is wonderful. this year we were there during hurricane frances, so the crowds were even lighter. we never waited more then ten minutes and on dumbe one time my family was the only one on it. going in november this year, and will miss my september trip. go if you have the chance, weather is wonderful if there is no hurricane predicted.

Disney estimates low crowds during September, and resort rates are adjusted accordingly.

I think it speaks VOLUMES that they had the free dining plan offered in May/June/July. They cut the promotion off on July 19th, and just a few weeks later it was re-introduced.

To me that says that they did not hit their projections, and needed to re-release the package to try and increase bookings some more.

That's all ENTIRELY speculation. :)

The later in Sept the quieter it gets, expect to wait about 20-30 mins for the big rides at the busiest times, mostly walking staight on. Some of the food stalls around the parks will be closed but all main restaurants will be open. If you catch the weather right(we had Jeanne last year) Sept is great -only been once in July & never again!!!!

We were there last year in Sept. Luckily we got there 2 days after Francis and left the day Ivan was supposed to hit (actually didn't hit Orlando-moved to panhandle)

We loved it! It was great! Crowds, what crowds? We're going again this Sept. Hoping that the free dining dosen't affect the crowds adversely. Oh, and hope no hurricanes.

38 days and counting! :cheer2: :grouphug:

I agree, it won't be July crowds, but with the free dining, I'm sure attendance will be slightly higher. Keep in mind the weekend you're there (10th) is Night of Joy, a big event at MK, so may make for a little more crowded weekend at the beginning. Lets just hope for better weather than last September. Pack those pounchos, unfortunately every time we've gone in September, we've encountered rain...which September is known for in Florida. We'll be there from Sept. 14-23.

Has anyone ever been during the Night of Joy - How does that effect the crowds? We will be there the 6th - 12th, but not for the Night of Joy. Trying to stay away from MK Friday and Saturday.

At that time they were offering the Fairytale package, you could stay seven nights for the price of four, which I think is about as good a deal as free dining. (At least it was for us at a Deluxe, maybe not a value) Anyway, the crowds were very light, compared to summer. Our longest wait all week was for the Jungle Cruise (20 minutes). We rode Dumbo three times straight. You will love it.

We thought we would try December this time, I hope the crowds are simular, we got spoiled.

Is there really free dining in Sept.? How does this work?
There's a package available for purchase. So the dining isn't really "free" -- it's just included in the price of the package.

night of joy is a christian rock concert in the mk, the park closes early and it gets very croweded later in the afternoon as people start arriving.

this is our 3rd year in a row going in sept. It's the BEST time to go...small crowds..no waiting in long lines perfect...see u in sept..
