New member here. It's official, but we don't have our paperwork yet.

I understand the concept of being able to reserve your home resort 11 months out and a different resort (if available) 7 months out -AND- I've read that the date you can call is based upon the check-out date of your proposed stay -BUT- how is the 11 or 7 months calculated? Months have different amounts of days in them. Am I making this too hard? Is it regardless of the number days in the months?

To book a stay at my home resort where I would plan to check out on May 10, 2009, would I simply call on June 10, 2008?

Sorry. Dumb question I'm sure.

Yes, that's correct. You call on the equivalent date that is 11 or 7 months from your vacation's check-out date.

One thing that is confusing is what happens when there is no equivalent date? Even the MS agents get confused on this and give the wrong information. You may even have to get a supervisor involved.

According to the POS, if there is no equivalent date, then you can call on the last day of appropriate month.

Example, you want to make an 11-month reservation checking out on Jan 31st. The 11-month equivalent date would be Feb 31st, but there is no such real date. You may therefore book that reservation on Feb 28th (29th in leap years), the last day of the month.

Some CM's say you have to wait until March 1st, but that's contrary to what the POS states.

The same occurs whenever the check-out date of a vacation falls on the 31st of the month, and the equivalent 7-month or 11-month is only a 30 day month. (or as in the example, a 28 day month)

This is very rare as only 5 dates during the year are affected. These dates are:

Jan 31st when booking at 7 or 11 months ahead (book on June 30 or Feb 28)
Mar 31st when booking 11 months ahead (book on Apr 30)
May 31st when booking 11 months ahead (Jun 30)
Aug 31st when booking 11 months ahead (Sep 30)
Oct 31st when booking 11 months ahead. (Nov 30)

Thank you very much fellow Hoosier! I've downloaded your programs by the way! I'm just waiting to get my paperwork so I make sure I enter everything exactly right!

Wow - that's got to be one of the more obscure rules that (almost) nobody knows. This questions came up just recently, and one of this boards best and most knowledgeable posters gave the wrong "next day" answer.
