How are EMH for Epcot at night?

We are only going for 4 days in December. It would be a Friday and there is a MVMCP that night. I know it will be crowded, but *HOW* crowded? The EMH would allow us to do the CP and still have plenty of time to walk around, shop, and maybe get another ride or so in. And am I correct that since the regular hours list until 9:30pm, that the park wouldn't close until 12:30am?

We went last year in April and it was a Madhouse!!! It was a Friday night, the end of April during Magic Music Days & F & G festival. We got on a bus with a couple that has been to WDW 38 times & they said they have never seen EPCOt so crowded. It was reported that there were 90,000 people there that day. The lines for all the CS in WS were ridiculous during Dinner. We ended up at the temporary Yakitori house stand in Japan. We really like it but it was was a wait. Leaving to go back to the hotel on the bus was even worse. It took us over two hours to get through the line and get on a bus to POP. Christmas will be crowded w/ CP & all the holiday festivities. But you may have a different experience then us...

I went to Epcot on a Friday evening once upon a time when it was an EMH day. Never again. It was packed. I remember that I had an ADR for dinner at the San Angel Inn at 8:00 pm, got my wristband just after eating, fought my way down to Future World through a heavy crowd, and headed straight on out to the busses and my resort.

I can't compare it to any other evening at Epcot, because, as I said, Never Again!

for those that were scared away by huge crowds on a Friday...what time of year were they? Do you suspect the same type of insanity on a Friday in early December?

(just saw one reply was for April...what about the other? Anyone else been to EMH for EPCOT on Friday nights in early December?)

Don't know for sure about early December, but I would expect Epcot to be packed anytime there's an evening EMH scheduled for a Friday.

My experience was on Friday, March 17, 2006. As I said above Never Again!

OK, you are talking about the 12th right?
We are thinking about going that night too.
There will be a MVMCP at the MK and after closing at DS, SHOULD be the Pop Warner party night.
I'm hoping it shouldn't be too bad. I would love to know if anyone has been there at this time before.

We participated in EMH at Epcot last November (2007) the Friday before Thanksgiving. It was amazing. No crowds. We had IllumiNations to ourselves. We sat at picnic tables that I thought were generally reserved for Grand Gathering events. The after hours rides had short lines and it was spectacular! (There were no Christmas activities/lights that weekend.)

Thanks! Right now we are tentatively "scheduled" to attend the EMH on December 5 as I wanted to avoid MK due to the parade taping. We have the hopper option, so I suppose we can check it out and then "hop" if needed...or maybe even take an "unscheduled" night off.

We did evening EMH's at Epcot once our past trip and will probably not do it again. It was still crazy...compared to the other parks with crowds that usually thin out toward the last hour or so. We didn't see any difference in the lines.
