My sons birthday is July 1st and he wants a Disney Birthday but I know July 4th is the busiest day to go. How is it before?

We went to the World June 21-25, 2002, and that was the most crowded that I have ever seen it - and it was very hot, and rained quite a bit.

We usually go during the famous Jersey week (early November), and the crowds in late June were much worse. (we have also been in September and October, which were not bad at all.

You are going to hear many varied opinions on this - one person's crowd is another's empty park.....

We always go around that time, either right before July 4th or right after. There really is no significant difference between that time period, and it will be VERY crowded. Without utilizing fast pass, the more popular rides will have upwards of 60 minutes waits, with some going up to 90 minutes. Dumbo is practically unavailable, after 9:30 due to 45 - 60 minute waits. The heat is oppressive, but we take mid-afternoon breaks back at the resort swimming and napping are musts! We love the summer and the crowds and heat don't bother us, but we do careful planning to help minimize the heat and crowd impact.

Here's a different point of view. Unfortunately it won't help make your decision any easier. We went the end of June and beginning of July not last year but the year before. I found the crowds to be quite reasonable. We hit the bigger rides in the morning and utilized fast pass when possible. I don't think we ever waited more than 20 minutes in line and quite often, it was even less than that. Because of school considerations, this time of year worked best for us. When we go back, we plan on going around the same time.

I went to WDW 6/24-30/2004, I figured that the crowds wouldn't be too bad, that it would be really crowded in July. Was I wrong. I will never go in June again. It was a madhouse. I returned (8/27-31) just before my son had to go back to school and it was perfect. The crowds were down considerably.
