Looks like I might have to cancel my trip for Sept 2 thru 9 Free dining, so was wondering how the first week dec looked for crowds, i have always wanted to go when the christmas decorations were up and cooler...

We will be there then to. It's the only time of year we go for a week because the crowds are not bad at all and like you said, all the decorations will be out. You will have a blast.Just remember it could be 75 degrees during the day and as soon as the sun goes down it's 50.

YULE...

love it!

:goodvibes

Low crowds and Holiday events, music, and decor!

In fact, we plan on being there at that same time as well.

We're from the midwest and have learned to EXPECT ANYTHING as the weather goes in off-season Orlando.
We always pack winter AND summer wear.
In Dec/Jan/Feb we have even worn LONG THERMAL UNDERWEAR (after sundown)... we now always pack it for any off-season trip.

Typical day:

Cool outside at 7am.
Wear shorts and Tee's.
Over that add a thin nylon wind-breaker
We put our "chilly-wear" and RAIN ponchos in a back-pack.
(Rain ponchos are REALLY cheap in hunting section of discount retailers.
You can buy BIG THICK ones to allow covering large jackets... more later.)

"Chilly-wear" is a nylon cotton-lined warm-up suit with zipper legs and a cotton-lined windbreaker.
We buy OVER-sized in these so they can easily be put on OVER other clothing.
After standing in the sometimes chilly "early-entry" lines we can usually take off the wind-breakers.
We always rent a locker at the park(s) and leave our "chilly-wear" in the locker 'til sun-down.
If it looks like rain (in Florida? Who'da thunk?) we take the Ponchos.

Much later, if its a warm night, we're just fine in the shorts.
If it turns windy/cool... we can visit the locker and choose which level of "chilly" OVER-WEAR to add to our clothing.

If it turns really COLD (windy 30's-40's not unheard-of at certain times of the year) we can make a restroom trip and slide-on the long underwear... OR... we can even add the final outer-layer of the RAIN ponchos (with their HOODS)... OVER everything else.
That trick (along with ear-muffs and gloves) has allowed us to "comfortably" stay and enjoy Fantasmic! or IllumiNations when others (less-prepared) have been "frozen-out."

We plan to go the first week of December 2007. I didn't release it was that cold though that you need all those clothes. I cant wait to see all the decorations and MVMCP.

Orlando not ALWAYS that cold in December... but on certain nights it CAN get that way.
And the climate, being DAMP and windy, can make it miserable if you're under-dressed.
(Think of a breezy UK night in December, 4-7 degrees C.)

That's why we go PREPARED... so we can still be out and enjoying everything while others, who only brought "shorts and teeshirts," are hiding in their resort rooms. :thumbsup2

We absolutely love it! Going again that week again this year. You do have to be prepared for rain as well as possible cooler temps. But you should also be prepared for 80 degree + days as well!

We love the lack of crowds, lack of heat and humidity, seeing everything dressed up for the holidays, and did I mention the lack of crowds :teeth:

Does Pop Warner and the National Cheer and Dance Competition affect the crowd levels? They are the first weekend of December. :confused3

We normally go the second week in Dec and find it to be totally perfect. Cooler weather, decorations, no waiting for anything! This year we are going the first weekend in December and I hope it to be the same

First or second week of December each year since 1991.We love it for all the holiday decorations and shows, low crowds and nice weather.I think you will have a great time.I will add the secret is out though on this time of year. The crowds have increased a little each year it seems but still not bad. :goodvibes

There are plenty of discussions about this around here but my opinion is that the only thing that they really have an effect on is the value resorts. Other than that you usually don't even know that they are there!

We went the first week of December last year (usually go in October).

We loved seeing the Christmas decorarations! :santa:

The crowd level was lower in December than it was the first and second weeks of October.

We didn't notice much of the Pop Warner kids except for one night at MGM (and even that didn't increase the wait times, just was a bit louder in lines). :cheer2:

The weather was nice, but for me, it was a bit too cool. The days were beautiful, but we never once made it to the pool at night (like we do in October) as it was way too cool, and like another poster said, when the sun goes down in the parks, there were some nights I felt I could use gloves!

Plus, the cooler weather made going on the water rides a bit tough (especially if you got soaked!!).

But, sounds like sometimes the December weather could be hot! Either way, December really is a nice time to visit! :tinker:

Now i feel better if i have to cancel my Sept free dining trip, Dec does sound fantastic, I know my 13 yr old could care less about TS meals, its all about the rides :rotfl2: so i just might have to give this Dec idea a little more thought.

We will be going the first week in December also. Not only is this the easiest time for us to get away from work, I thought that it would be best if BF didn't have too wait in TOO many lines. :rolleyes1
