Hi, my family's arriving in the parks on August 13 (so close!), and we were wondering how the crowd levels have been this past week, for those of you who are there now? Thanks!

Hi, my family's arriving in the parks on August 13 (so close!), and we were wondering how the crowd levels have been this past week, for those of you who are there now? Thanks!

I was there this past Wednesday through Friday. The crowds weren't terrible. Typical summer crowds, but still a bit lower than it was in July. Next week the hours start getting reduced. I guess the parks may be a little less crowded.

I was there on Thursday and found it to be pretty crowded, surprisingly so actually. Line jumpers were out in force as well that day.

I thought the 2 Saturdays I was there in July were far less crowded than this past Thursday.

My Mouswait app has consistently been saying the crowd index has been 70-90% for both parks for the last several weeks. Usually it's about 40-60% before noon, and then after that, they explode.

I've never gone to DLR in the summer, so this will be a new touring experience for me, and am rather nervous. Let us know how you fair with the crowds. I'll be arriving the day you're leaving, based on the August attendee thread, so I'll be very curious to see how things go for you and your fam.

I'm going Monday (tomorrow), Wednesday and Thursday myself, so I'll post an update on how the crowd levels are or at least seem to feel. I'm hoping they're manageable. I've been plenty of times in the summer and never felt like I had to leave or couldn't get on the rides I wanted to, so as long as you go in with a plan, know when show times are, when parades start (and their routes), and if you utilize the FP system, you should be able to enjoy the parks whether they're crowded or not.

Los Angeles Unified Schools start on Tuesday, 8/12. I think the crowds will lighten up a bit as a result.

We went last wed and again today. I was actually very surprised how light the crowds were in the morning. Things picked up around 11:30, but otherwise, 20 min waits for Peter Pan, 15 min wait at Pixie Hollow, 5 min wait for Dumbo. This was our first summer trip and I was happy. Much shorted than when I've gone in March, May, October, Feb last year.

We arrived at DL Sat around noon and by 1 the park was very crowded, but not as bad as when we were here during spring break. Most rides were at least 30 min waits. We ended up doing IASW (10 min wait- shortest in the park), had a FP to Space Mountain and stood in line for BTMR (30 min). Then back to Space Mountain where the FP line was 20 min as apparently it was down most of the day, then it broke again just before we got in. A CM ended up giving us another FP to return later as we had to run to make our BB ADR but we ended up not using it.

Yesterday (Sun) we went back to DL (regular hours) and it was quite empty the first hour - we hit 5 FL rides while DH stood in line for A&E (we got to gate 14 at 8:40, in pre-line by 8:45, A&E by 9:10 -both sisters there the whole time). But DL did get pretty crowded by 11am - at the spring break level (at least that's how it felt trying to walk through crowds and from looking at wait times) but Mousewait had crowd levels at the 60-70 level for DL all afternoon.

We went back to HoJo's to play in the water park for the afternoon + some rest time then to CA around 4:30 and it was fine - busy but not packed. OK wait times for most lines (20-30 min). Had a light dinner then back to the hotel around 7.

Today we're off to CA -was planning to check in early at GCH so we could do EE but DD4 and DH are still sleeping and DD is down a few hours of sleep (bedtime took awhile as she was SO excited from her day of meeting A&E, doing her first water slides and whatnot) so I'm just going to let them sleep in - hopefully that won't be a mistake but we do get a CA EMH on Wed.

If anyone happens to notice when the RSR FPs run out today, I'd love to hear it. Or even more specifically, what the return time is for FPs around 10 a.m. this morning. We are going next Monday and trying to figure out our strategy based on today's numbers.

Thanks!

Hi Premium annual pass holder checking in:
We just went yesterday.. All fast passes for rsr were gone by 10:30am

I would suggest getting a fast pass for rsr right at rope drop.. Then get on toy story mania right after you have your fast pass in hand. This way you will get on two of the best rides in the park! It was humid HOTTT yesterday and lines for grizzly rapids were 80minutes after 11am. --plan to bring lots of water and healthy snacks--

I hope you have a great time!! Any questions just ask! :) :beach:

This is not correct. I pulled FPs for RSR at around 11:30 for a return time of 7:25-8:25. I checked RSR FPs fairly continuously (in person at the FP line, I as waiting for evening FPs) from about 10 til about 11:30. At 10 they were only 4:30 or so. I'm not sure what time they ran out, but I would guess it wasn't til around noon, but definitely not before 11:45.

I will say that the park apps were saying they were gone when I checked at 11. Not correct. Don't trust the wait time apps on this one. Call Otto or see for yourself.

BTW, TSMM was down yesterday all the way through EE and maybe into 30 minutes or so after park opening. After it came back up, the lines went VERY quickly up to 60 minutes. We never did get to ride.

We were there all last week. We thought the crowds were pretty terrible :( Last Sunday 8/3 was better than the whole week.

At 10am this morning my Mouswait was reflecting this as well, with 20% crowd index for both parks, but as of 1pm, both parks are now at 70%

I use the Lines app in the park to check standby wait times but never trust the FP times. I usually verify those by calling Otto. Otto is usually a bit behind so I then figure the FP return will be a bit later than stated.

Thank you for this!! That is sort of what I was hoping. We are starting at DL and sending a FP runner after we do a few rides there first. Honestly, if we don't get on RSR the first day, it will not ruin or trip. We will do it later in the week for sure. But I was hoping to get on the ride around 4, so it seems like my plan just might work.

And I forgot all about Otto. I will be programing that number into my phone.

Saturday the 9th was packed. At least I felt it was the busiest since we got here last weds. Other than that not too bad. I think the crowds have been a bit lighter since our last trip on July of 2011. I think it'd help a bit if Nemo wasn't closed but not much.

We were there Thursday and Friday. Thursday was pretty good...not too busy and only had to wait an hour and a half for good seats for Fantasmic. Friday was nuts...really busy by noon. We ended up leaving around 4pm that day cause crowds got too bad. :faint:
