Will be sailing next weeks August 11th Wonder....and having read these boards for months - feel we are now ready to have a great time. One last question would be how are the contestants chosen for the on board game shows the first evening of the cruise? Anyone ever chosen? Did you receive a prize?

Can only speak to the Mickey Mania Trivia Contest that was on Thursday night. My DD10 and I showed up 10 mins before the start and then when they asked for contestants screamed and yelled as loud as we could. It helps to be animated. We were chosen and won the contest. We were awarded gold medals (Plastic) but DD thinks of hers as gold.

My DD was picked for The Golden Mickeys on the 3 day wonder cruise. This was our first cruise and didnt know about anything. My DD said lets sit in front and I was like, I hate sitting in the front, but we sat in the front and a lady came up and asked her if she wanted to be in the show. We didnt know what she was going to be doing so we were waiting for her to come out and when she did my DD and I were smiling from ear to ear..... TOO CUTE!!!!!

It depends on the show. For Mickey Mania, Walk the Plank, etc. it is frequently the most enthusiastic. For Match You Mate it is stuff like longest married, most recently married, etc. For the Toad Race it is the first to sign up. Same for the vegetable race car thing--first 12 or 15 teams to sign up.

Was picked for Who wants to Be a Mousketeer...HOw embarassing that was.. Fun though, it was random through the audience....WOn some money for onboard credit, and a nice pin...

That sounds awesome mammasita...I hope that we will be able to participate in these while we are there. I love games.

I do have a question though....for the vegetable car races, I can see my kids LOVING this. Since this is our first cruise coming up, give me the scoop on where and when to sign up for this. Especially since it is only first 15 to sign up. Is it done at boarding, or on a particular day/night?
Thanks so much!

There is usually an entry in the Navigator on when the sign ups are. They are the same day as the race, just an hour or two before for building time. I think they usually meet in the Promenade Lounge. Just show up when/where it is listed. Even if your family can't be a team on its own, you can usually join in with someone -- just depends on how many volunteers show up.

DW and I were the "newlywed" copule on Match Your Mate on the honeymoon last year. There was another couple on their honeymoon, but I was louder and more of a public spectacle, so we got invited up. The "middle" couple I don't think really liked each other, but we all got stomped by this couple who had been together 35 years, and still remembered how much he spent on their first date at a jazz club 40 years ago.

Dang.

We'd have done better, but DW was having trouble understanding the host's really thick cockney accent. Meh.

What kinds of questions do they ask for this game?? I'm wondering if I need to get out my trivia books, or if it's info most Disney fans would know. Thanks!

I have been picked twice for "Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer?". All I did was be in a section without a whole lot of people and jumped up and down acting crazy. :cheer2:

There were three phases of the game. You have a game panel in front of you to hit the button if you know the answer. If you can not answer the question, then it opens up to the rest of the players.
1st Phase general questions.
1. What series featured Goofy. Bonus how was his son.
2. What year was Mickey introduced. Bonus who did his voice.
I can't remember others will have to wait until tomorrow when DD
is up. These are worth the most points (100-200pts). We wound up
with 600pts after this round.
2nd Phase They showed you a scene from a disney movie and stopped the action, you then had to write down What happens next. Worth (20pts)
3rd phase was pictures of Disney characters that were scrambled and slowly became clear. DD10 had an unbeleivable knack for this and was answering them before they were even unscrambled. (20pts).
We wound up with 960pts with the nearest competition at 300-400pts so you have to be good in the first round.
I will post more questions tomorrow.

Roger,
Thank you for the info! It sounds like so much fun! Please do tell more!

I was on the Mousketeer panel because you raise your hand if you know alot about Disney. They give you a really cool pin for being on the panel.

That is how you get on the "panel", but to be in the "hot seat" it is done randomly by row and seat number by a computer.
