How about another Thanksgiving thread? Do you get dressed up?

My family always goes dressy casual. My inlaws dress in jeans and their beer tshirts. My DH and I get dressed nicely and dress our kids up too.

What does your family do?

We do the same as you. :)

I dress up a bit, and so does my mom. Everyone else looks sloppy-casual.

When I was younger we would rent a large room at a restaurant and they would cater. Everyone would dress up then. I miss those days.

Jeams and a decent shirt...but probably gonna have on my slippers while I'm cooking and eating.:lmao:

Jeans and a hoodie or t-shirt if I'm at home. This year we're going to be out of town and having dinner in a restaurant. I'll probably wear nice pants, a sweater and heals. As soon as I get back to the hotel, I'll be in sweats.

We do casual, but not full-out grunge. Jeans and a nice top or sweater.

We often find ourselves outside playing football or walking the dog, and the guys often deep-fry the turkey; thus, dress-up clothes aren't practical.

I never realized that people dressed up for the Thanksgiving meal 'til I was in college. A friend organized a nice Thanksgiving meal for a bunch of us (before the real break), and when we all showed up in our everyday clothes, he was VERY upset. So upset that we all scurried back to our dorm rooms and changed. We all felt badly that he'd worked so hard to please us, and we hadn't recognized that he had this expectation.

Casual. Shorts/sweats depending on the weather, and a t-shirt. Sometimes Mrs. Tex will even wear shoes.

Casual at both my aunt's and DH's grandma's. I usually wear jeans and a sweater. BIL will be the only one sporting a beer shirt.

Is your BIL related to my in laws? :rotfl:

See, I thought the beer shirts were odd. Maybe they will surprise me and sport casino shirts this year?

We're VERY casual. I've actually never heard of people dressing up for Thanksgiving. I can't imagine wearing nice clothes just to eat a big meal. I've got to be comfy, but I'm not a fan of dressing up in general.

We dressed up when we had a big Thanksgiving gathering at my grandparents' house, but now that it's just the nuclear family - we all put our eatin' pants on. Literally.

Cooking Thanksgiving dinner is a participatory sport for the five of us, so we're all liable to show up at the dinner table in our flour-dusted t-shirts and pajamas. No sense in dressing fancy when you're up to your elbows in a bowl of stuffing one minute then washing dishes the next!

It's always been business casual in my family, even when it started expending to include expended family.

This year it's just us and friends so I don't know what we'll do. I will probably wear black pants, a nice blouse and flats since I'm cooking.

Everyone dresses however they want but I've noticed most folks dress like dh and I, dressy casual. Sometimes if I have an outfit I particularly like I push it a little further and dress up more, lol. DH, on the other hand, will lean towards more casual some years and wear jeans with a nicer shirt or a sweater that I pick out ;) usually though khakis and a polo for him.

I wondered if this was really just a :confused3 or :snooty:

Now I know......

Tp each his own. By the time I grocery shopped, thawed, brined, cooked, carried food I fall into my friends home. I shower. THAT'S ENOUGH.:sad1:

Haha I am not snooty. I just happen to think beer tshirts at the thanksgiving table with your grandchildren is odd.

We live in MI, yet cheer for the Packers. This year on Thanksgiving Day, the Lions are playing the Packers. Everybody (and there are only 6 of us) has been told to wear the football jersey of the team they support. Looks like 4 of us will have on our Rodgers jersey, 1 will be or the Lions and 1 is maintaining his loyalty to the Bears. :confused3. Thanksgiving day football pretty much rules the house. Sit down dinner is scheduled during the half-time show! :thumbsup2

It's only 5 of us this year-- me, DFi, mom, dad, and grandma.

We will wear dressy casual. :)

Pajamas! It's just DH and I this year. After we spend the morning mucking 21 horse stalls and feeding/watering thehorses, it's right into the jammies for the rest of the day snuggled on the couch watching movies.

And it's ONLY because I'm not brave enough to cook the T-day meal NAKED.
