Just thought this would be the easiest way to find out. I am hoping to be accepted into the Fall 09 CP and my boyfriend is hoping to get the CP or PI as well. Once we finish we plan to stay in the Orlando area so we would prefer to get a place right away...is it possible to not live in the Disney housing? I know for the PI it is but hadn't found if you can or can't for the CP? Thanks in advance!!

When I was in the CP in '05 there was one person that I knew that if they wanted to live together in the Disney housing they had to get married and that is what they did... but I think I remember her telling me that they had to get special permission to not live in the Disney housing.

I don't know if the rules have changed but I am 99% sure that you don't have to live in the housing that they offer.

I'm hoping berlioz70 will see this, because she moved out of CP hosing early on. The best person to talk to would be her!

Thanks! Yea we don't want to live together within Disney housing just wondering if we can live off disney housing so if anyone knows for sure that'd be great. I'm sure I can also ask when I interview about that I just was wondering if anyone had experience with this...Thanks!

Great question! As Frazzle mentioned, I did move out of CP housing about 2 months into the program. My understanding of the rules is that the only way to not live in the housing is to move in with an immediate family member (spouse, parent, etc.)

I moved in with my husband and had to get an official certified copy of my marriage license (that they could keep for my record) and had to go through a couple of different people in the housing office to get it finally approved. There is an appeal board, so if you make a good enough case the board could approve you living off-site.

Here's another thing, you do not have to physically stay in the housing, so you could always get a place and just pay your CP rent - which is no fun. Towards the end of your program you could start looking for housing then just move out a couple weeks earlier so that you would not have to pay as much in the CP rent.

I will tell you that being a Disney employee has it's perks, I get a discount at my current apartment because I work at Disney. If you get a place before you start then you wouldn't be able to get as good of a deal - just another thing to think about!

im hoping to get into fall 09 and i am married and looking for offsite housing where are you living that gives a discount to disney workers? I was looking at Alexandria park vue even though it has awful management reviews because its close and my husband will need our car to drive to work.
