I know this is not the right board, but, maybe you can all help. They won't let me in the cast area of the forum

My daughter is going to be a princess, probably starting in early Jan(her phone interview is next week)

She is looking for a place to live, and since we are in Wi, that is very difficult

any suggestions on a good location? not too far from the world, safe, affordable?

she will only be making 12.50 an hour, with two roomies making about the same

I think they are trying to find a 2 bedroom for around $800 a month

equity apartments is a great place to start looking on-line. They have a couple different options near property.

However, I lived in a 1 bedroom and paid $740 a month (nothing included). They may want to consider upping their price point or plan on a little bit longer of a drive.

thanks, and I agree. I think living down there is going to cost them more than they think, but this is her dream come true

I think I found an equity? windermere Buena Vista properties? It looks like their income will be too high for it tho

As the mother of a recently accepted CP'er, I share your enthusiasm for your daughter living her dream.

I PM'd you.

Well, my roommates and I are PIs and need another roomate from Jan-Jun 2012 ..

My roommates and I are looking for one more person to share our 4bed/3bath house at Coral Cay in Kissimme. The length of the lease is Jan-June. The deposit of 500 dollars will be split amongst us. Your share of the rent will be 400/month including utilities. We are looking for a female roommate, as we are all girls. The deposit will be refunded at the end of the lease, upon inspection and cleaning. It is also fully furnished.

Feel free to private message me or send me an email : banditgirly@gmail.com

Hi Jamie
That sounds great, but she is coming down there with 2 more girls, so that would be too much for you. How did you find the place you are renting? And what is a PI?

Also check out Sabal Palm and Alexandria Park Vue.

Most of Buena Vista is housed by Disney Cast Members - it's within walking distance to MK and most hourly CMs meet the financial requirements.

Keep in mind that while you're DD will make $12.40 when performing as a look-a-like, she will only make $9.15 during her regular performer shifts.

We found it in Kissimme. The name of the resort/vacation homes is Coral Cay. You can look it up through: Staycoralcay.com

A PI is a Professional Internship. Its similar to CP, but they get paid more, and work more in the professional parts of WDW or DL.

oh boy, what does THAT mean? what is the difference between a look a like and regular performer? I don't think that they told her friend anything like that. How is the work week split between the two? This is really important to know so they know how much they can afford. Thanks for telling me

I looked at the requirements for Buena Vista, and based on 12.50 they would be too high, but if its only 9.15 that makes a difference. There will also be 3 incomes so that bumps them up a little.

Do you live there or know anyone that does? The reviews were really mixed online. People either loved it or hated it

thanks for the help

Are the options mentioned above only for Disney CM or CP? My son will be starting at MMI in March and we are looking for housing for him. The school is near SeaWorld but he is interested in PT work at DTD, so his income will be whatever PT hrs he can get outside of school.
TIA!

None of the housing discussed here is CP housing, that only includes Vista Way, Chatham Square, and Patterson Court (and The Commons for International CPs).

I had "friends" that got an apartment there and I know they only put 2 of the 3 people in the apartment on the lease so they were below the income limit. I don't know how they liked it since they completely stopped talking to me after my CP was over, but that's a whole 'nother story, lol :confused3

I also know CMs get out of paying the signing fee or something. I know it was $75 or something that got waived. Good luck :)

The closer you are to Disney Property, the higher the rent will be more or less. My daughter works with Disney Entertainment and lives in Davenport, about a 10-15 minute commute depending on her location for the day - less if she is at DAK, further if she is at MK.

There are some great complexes just a bit further away, but it does take some research and definitely read the reviews with a grain a salt. Some of the glowing reviews are actually written by the staff of the complex.

Some of the places mentioned here I actually went to see and while they seemed nice, after some digging I found them to be less then what I was looking for. We were in search of a nice, gated community with no real history of breakins or maintenance issues. While visiting, take a close look at the grounds...do they seem well kept? Do you see trash around? Does the complex look like some minor repairs are needed? That is a good indicator of how the complex is kept.

I know there are some other places just a little south/southwest of property that are affordable and seem just a bit safer and nicer. (just can't remember the names since it was a while ago that we had to look).

As others have mentioned, they may want to up their price range for rent just a bit. Your daughter will be making more than mine does now as she is only fur..and her rent is $485 a month which includes cable, trash, sewer and water. They only pay additional for electric and internet so with that they pay around $550 a month each for a two bedroom and they don't have any issues paying for rent, gas, groceries etc. It is a bit higher than a lot of places, but the community is gated and security patroled, has beautiful facilities including pool, hot tub, workout room, movie room, etc. and the place looks like a resort. They were willing to pay a bit more for a place a little more out of the way.

If they want housing close to disney, $800 for a 2br is not going to happen. Right now, I'm in Camden World Gateway, and its $1250 for a 3br.
I am moving in Jan to Alexandria Parc Vue, and thats $1100 for a 3br. ((plus utilities, cable, internet, etc, add another 100ish))

Other places that are decently cheap (but also a decent apartments): Abaco Key, Mystic Pointe, Buena Vista Pointe, Buena Vista Place, Falcon Square, Integra Meadows, Mirabella, Century Palms, Cagan Crossing, Sabal Palms

All those places are pretty close to property, only a 10-20 minute commute depending on where you work. If they want cheaper, they will have to look further away. Davenport, Clermont, Windermere, Winter Garden, and other areas in Orlando (Millenia area) have cheaper rent, but the commute is longer (and could have tolls, as you want to avoid I-4 if at all possible lol)

I make less than she will be making (I'm attractions, and its only $8/hr), and I get by, mostly because I tend to try to work at least 45 or more hours/week. But hopefully in January it will be a bit better as I will be paying less haha :)

thanks for all the suggestions. They have pretty much decided on the Alexandria parc View. They have been approved but are going to check it out when they get there.

I am so sad that my baby is leaving:sad1:
