Last trip we tried leaving tips on the table every day. The odd thing was housekeeping only picked up the tip on 2 out of 10 days.

Has anyone had housekeeping turn down tips? seems odd to me.

I thought I read somewhere on here that they can only take them if it is specifically marked for them. I think a lot of people make "Mousekeeping" envelopes to leave their tips in. Probably what we will do.

Back in another life-time I cleaned rooms and you would never take money unless it was marked maid.... people leave money around change, bills all the time ... would you want to loose your job over taking a few bucks. I've always left a few bucks in the room labled maid or housekeeper.

Hope this helps...;)

We left our tips on the bed. We often got thank you notes back from Mousekeeping on the kids Magna Doodle.

They likely wouldn't pick up a tip from the table, thinking you had just left your cash hanging out there. I put the tip on the bathroom vanity right underneath the little card mousekeeping leaves on the first day with the mousekeeper's name on it. I've never received a thank you note but they sure do leave you lots of extra soap and shampoo every day!

I always put the money in an envelope -- sometimes I've had them printed with Disney characters, sometimes decorated them with Disney stickers. And they are printed (either by hand or with the computer) to read "Mousekeeping -- For the Maid"
If you do the stickers, it's a good project for the little ones to help contribute to the trip!

I can't remember if we did anything to distinguish it as tip money or not. I will be sure to bring marked envelopes for this trip. I feel bad that they didn't get tips for 8 out of 10 days. I certainly understand them not taking it if it was not marked as tip money.

I found www.themouseforless.com had envelopes that you could print- I did that yesterday. It says To: Mousekeeping From: (I put ________ Family) there were lots to choose from and I did Mickey. I did one for each day- put $1/pp ($4 total for 4 people) and wil put one out each day on the vanity so if we have a different maid they get a tip.

I let our girls totally do the envelopes for mousekeeping and they had a blast. I just made sure the words "for mousekeeping" were somewhere on there. They used stickers, markers, whatever they thought would look good. Kind of a fun pre-trip project for them.

I simply typed "Thank You" on my envelopes and applied some Mickey Mouse stickers.

Do you think that is obvious enough???

I have always done the "Thank You Mousekeeping!" envelopes for the tips, but about 6 times total the CM hasn't taken the tip. Sometimes I think I left it in a place where it got missed (on a relatively clean nightstand, by the TV) but sometimes I know they couldn't have missed it. I just put the same envelope out the next day and enjoy the mickey bar I can buy with that tip money.

I always leave the tip on top of the TV underneath the "Mousekeeping" card..

It's always gone when i get back to the room :)
