1 - How does the trash pick-up work?

See the schedule below. On days you get trash & towel service, they empty all the trash cans. You can empty them yourself whenever you want - there are trash & recycling rooms in each building or, in hotel-style DVC resorts, on many floors.

2 - I know more towels are available for an extra charge....but I can wash them in my villa if I want to, right?

Sure. One box of detergent is supplied at check in and it is replenished each day you get trash & towel service or a full cleaning. You can purchase extra detergent if you wish.

3.a - If I have a party of 4, how many towels do I get?
3.b - If I have 10 people in a GV, how many towels do I get?

The number of towel sets (bath towel, hand towel, wash cloth) is based on room occupancy, not actual number of guests. So if you are in a GV, you'll have 12 sets. If you are in a room that sleeps 4, you'll have 4 towel sets.

4 - Are we expected to use the same towel for 4 days?

Well, you are expected to use the towels you have or purchase extra towel packets. You are free to launder them. But every 4 days is as often as they'll be replaced with fresh towels at no charge.

I find it a bit weird that they have a fixed schedule for the Trash&Towel service as well as the Full service.

Last time, we stayed for 5 days, so on our last full day we received new towels which they would have to replace again anyway the next day because we left.

Wouldn't it be much better to have the services you are receiving for the length of your stay in the middle? For example for our 5 day stay getting fresh towels on day 2 or 3.

It wouldn't change anything in the amount of towels they have to clean but people staying more than 4 days would get fresh towels sooner.

Yes, it would increase the overall number of supplies they leave and the overall number of cleanings that have to be done. If one room is occupied 365 days a year with half the guests saying 5 nights and half staying 3 nights, they'd all be getting service at the midpoint. Yet under the fixed schedule, only half those parties would get service at all.

So would it be better? Yeah, sure. It would also be more costly to owners.

I don't find the fixed schedule weird at all.

No, someone staying 3 days of course wouldn't get fresh towels. I wasn't suggesting any changes in the 4 day / 8 day rule. Just on WHEN getting the fresh supplies.

So, people staying 1, 2 or 3 days still would not get fresh towels. Neither would someone staying 4 as they are replaced on his check-out day.

But currently, someone staying 5 days gets fresh towels just one day before checking out. So I thought it would make more sense to give fresh towels for all staying more than 4 days on their mid-stay day. So they wouldn't need to use the first set that long and could use the second set longer.

No change in the amount of towels to be cleaned for MS. Same goes for the full cleaning. Doesn't really make sense for someone staying 9 days having a full cleaning on their last day and then have it cleaned again anyway the next day because it's check-out day. Wouldn't a cleaning on day 4 or 5 (again, only for those staying at least 9 days) make much more sense?

With the current scheduling, there would even be savings potential, as a replacement on the last day before checking out doesn't make that much sense, especially for the full service.

I too always thought the schedule was a little weird. We stay a couple of times a year for 12 nights, so we get a full cleaning, T&T, full cleaning. Well the last full cleaning falls on the night before checkout! So I asked if we could switch our T&T and FC so that it was FC, FC, T&T. I was told yes, no problem (I talked to housekeeping to arrange this). I won't do that again. I ended up getting FC, T&T, T&T. We called after the T&T, but could not get it straightened out, so finally ended up getting housekeeping to come up mid trip to change our sheets at no charge because our FC got skipped and only one full cleaning at the beginning of the trip was not going to work for a 12 night stay. It got very complicated, so I'll just leave it alone now. Seemed like a good solution...but it didn't work out.

I too have called to have days switched, and housekeeping has never gotten it right. Now, I leave the schedule alone, and if I don't want our room disturbed I just hang out the Do Not Disturb sign.
I don't mind washing towels or emptying trash, so I generally forgo Trash and Towel days. I do have the full cleaning done.

I find they normally get it right when we request changes. A few years ago they changed it so that if the stay was long enough to qualify for both a T & T and a full cleaning, they did the full cleaning first rather than last.

I just thought about this last night  Probably because my next 2 trips are going to be 5 nights. But sounds like the system works for housekeeping so I will just let it be!

Yeah, I found it odd that we were getting the full up service on day 4 seeing as how we were checking out on day 5. So I refused the housekeeping service when she showed up. No point in new towels, sheets, etc when we would be checking out the very next day.

If you are checking out on day 5, you would only get trash & towel service on day 4, not a full cleaning.

One time I did move my trash & towel service up a day and they came on that day. Then they came again on the regular day!

Lets say I'm in a studio for 8 nights and on day 2 I find I am gonna need more towels and buy a towel package. Now what happens on day 4 when they come for the full cleaning? Will they replace the original set of towels that came with the room even though I have plenty of clean ones? Do I have to hide my towel package?!?!?

Left to their own approach they will take all the towels and replace them with what the unit is allotted for. You'll need to be there to ask the replace the ones in the towel pack or you'll need to hid them for that time to be sure you don't see a reduction.

Maybe I'll just note it at check-in and call housekeeping day 3 and let them know to skip T&T. No point (for us) to have them come 24 hours or less before we leave.
