Housekeeping poll #1

We seem to have all levels of expectations here on the DIS about housekeeping in DVC villas. This is going to be the first of several polls I'm going to post on the subject. Bear with me, because this first one wont appear to be DVC related, but I will tie it in at the end of all the polls.

This first one deals with what you do AT HOME. It has NOTHING to do with your DVC/Disney room expectations.

I think some of these responses will vary, depending upon how many are in the household, and how much cooking you do. And whether or not there are kids in the household.

For instance, I don;t do dishes every day, as there are only 2 of us, unless I mess up a lot of pots and pans. But I do wipe down the counter tops daily, usually more than once. And I do clean the bathroom more than once a week, but not always once per day, it varies.

Much more cleaning up at home - always 5 people here. Cook almost every night and I have a boxer that i need to clean up after constantly.

Boy, do I relate to that! The difference is that I have 7 dogs! They are mostly in the kennel though.

I would like to take part, but your categories are too restrictive. Several/multiple times per week is not a selection for any category, and it really should be, IMHO.

You didn't have my choices on the survey - when I finally can't stand it any more (bathrooms and kitchens).

I vacuum a lot because of the hair on my hardwood and tile floors. No carpet in our house and with three cats and two dogs..... I hardly ever put the vacuum away.

I only had 12 places to use, so I had to parse the catagories somewhat.

My housekeeper comes in once a week for the toilet, sheets and vacuum.. I keep the dishes and laundry up. Then I work daily to pay for the luxury of having the housekeeper. I have discussed letting her go lately with DH so we can see our way to more points!!

Beside our DVC purchase he thinks the house keeper is one of our best household expenditures. We also have a fireman friend of his do the lawn. We both work (DH, F/T fireman, P/T Hyperbaric Tech and me F/T Registered Nurse) and have great careers that allow us this luxury. And I realize it is just that.. a terrific luxury.

I too wish I could have a housekeeper come in, but I'm a stay at home type person who is self employed, so it's not a good expense for me.

I voted weekly for most things. I ALWAYS wash our sheets weekly - clean sheet night is my favorite!!! I put weekly for bathroom/kitchen/vacuum. I always clean the entire place in one day. I will clean a specific room if there has been a disaster, but usually I clean everything about once a week or once ever week and a half. Off to take the next poll.

I also wish I could clean my place in one day! Unfortunately, with 6000 sq ft of house and 800 sq. ft of kennel, that's NOT going to happen!

LOL! From some of the posts I've seen in the past, I remember times when it sounded like there were many people that did that. I seem to be right in with the majority on most of answers here.

What I do at home as to cleaning is irrevelant to me while on vacation. I see no correlation at all.

Weekly for most, sheets every two weeks. Some of this is subjective. Our kitchen is clean at the end of every day, but once a week it gets a full move everything out of the way cleaning, microwave, toaster oven, etc.

Ceiling fans = once every two months.

We clean up as we go. If something is dirty it is cleaned.
