What should i get a coworker for a house warming gift. I am drawing a big blank on what to get. I don't want to spend more the $100.

Do they have a deck or nice backyard? If so, a fire pit would be nice. You can get them for around $70.

Wine is nice. I always like to give a beautiful plant in a basket or indoor tree. They add warmth and go with everything. A personalized gift is nice also, like monogrammed towels.

This is cute too! http://www.elenis.com/

A nice bottle of wine and a gift card??? Something along those lines? I love gift cards b/c when you move in somewhere there is ALWAYS something that you want!!!

SOOOO FUNNY ... FORGET my other post!!!

A nice arrangement of flowers? A nice selection of candles? It's hard to buy something for a housewarming when you don't know the people!!

Talk about posting at the same time, that was pretty funny!:lmao:

I know them pretty well i worked with the guy for over 2 years. Its just so hard to buy gifts now adays plus i am the bosses daughter and his boss.

If it is a new house how about a Certificate for a tree or shrub from a local nursery.

I like the fire pit idea or a chimnea

If you know their decorating theme:
A set of dish towels, matts & pot holders might be nice.

A trip to the Spa to follow moving day

I would get them some Yankee or Root candles. The really big ones make your house smell so good throughout!

Candles or a nice green plant in a fancy pot.

herc.

we live in vegas so i don't know if fire pit would be good since its so dang hot here already in the 90s already. I am moving tomorrow too. urgh

How about making up a nice gift basket?? You could do a spaghetti dinner basket...buy a colander to use as the basket and put in good pasta, a gourmet sauce, some good Parmesan cheese, one of those spaghetti server fork things, a couple of red & white checked napkins, a bottle of wine (maybe one of your parents could buy it for you...it's not like you'd be drinking it!), maybe a couple of wine glasses. How a basket with some patioware...a nice set of plastic service for 4....dishes, bowls, cups, a citronella candle, some summery cloth napkins. There are a lot of themes you could do...how about a "home improvement" basket..get a plastic bucket and put in a hammer, a screwdriver, a Phillips head screwdriver, a wrench, a tape measure, some common nails, some common screws, duct tape, epoxy glue, a staple gun, thumbtacks, lightbulbs, an extension cord or, if you want to go a little smaller with this one, just get a cute little bucket and put a few things in it with a gift card to a home improvement store. An engraved doorknocker is a nice gift. Or a door decoration of some sort...a nice floral wreath for the spring/summer would be cute, or maybe a patriotic themed one since the summer patriotic holidays are coming up.

Is this a couple just starting out and buying their first house? If so - my standard gift in that situation is usually a card table or folding chairs. They always come in handy for gatherings/holidays and most people don't have them right away as they're not something somebody typically buys for showers etc.

If they are well established then I'd go some other route. If the house is BRAND new- has very little landscaping - you can buy a gift certificate to a garden center so they can buy some outdoor plants. If it's an older home that you know they'll be upgrading you can go with a CG to Lowes/Home Depot etc.

A doormat. Nice Pitcher & Glasses for outside.

I know you say you don't like gift certificates or cards but for these situations, they are very practical.

How about having someone buy a bottle of wine for you and include a gift certificate for a home store or nursery so they can get something for their home? I know landscaping and patio furniture are so very expensive and people have such different tastes. Personally I love having the cards to spend and so do all the people I know.

How about a nice serving tray, a set of wine glasses, or a tool set. A gift certificate to a home improvement store works everytime.

How about soap and a candle from Bath & Body Works? This is what I got my best friend and her DH recently when they moved into their brand new house. I got the aromatherapy line in Orange Ginger (smells divine, very refreshing!) and got the candle (10.50 and large size pump soap $12) My friend and her DH loved it so much she says she washes her hands just to smell it! If you wanted to do something more you could add monogrammed hand towels and theme it around a guest or master bathroom. :goodvibes
