I watched several episodes of House last season so I thought I would tune in this season. While watching, a couple of questions occurred to me. First of all, does anyone think that he could actually keep his job? He is rude to staff and patients alike. Wouldn't someone miss that vial of Morphine that he had at home? Writing a prescription like that for yourself would no doubt arouse a lot of suspicion. Secondly, it was a very circuitous route he took to arrive at the most recent diagnosis of hemachromatosis. After he had done a full cardiac work up and finally a liver biopsy, why didn't he do more comprehensive blood work which would have diagnosed the problem. I like medical drama but he is boardering on the totally unbelievable. Anyone else liking him less?

I thought he stole Wilson's prescription pad to write the prescription for morphine? (I mean the one with Wilson's name and forged signature on it).

I do think it is unbelieveable, but I like the show anyway and think he plays a funny character.

You'd be surprised at what is overlooked when it comes to meds.

Nope, love him just as much, if not more! I don't know much about medical diagnosis so I couldn't really care less if he didn't do a better test to find something. They've said the reason why he stays is because he is brilliant and finds out the results. He is effective. He is not totally insensitive either to everyone. He's just matter of fact.

The idea that everyone is trying to hide something is kind of a neat thought to me. He tries to find ways around everyone else' BS.

Plus, it's a fiction drama... I know it won't be 100% accurate. Kind of like the new "Justice" show. I don't care that it isn't correct, just that it entertains me.

If I wanted to be educated, I'd read a book, not watch Prime Time TV ;)

Yes, he used Wilsons pad to write the script. I believe it was Wilson who always wrote the scripts for him.

You must not be a big CSI fan either because that one moves a little quick in the solving department too. I like the show. My whole family does, in fact it's one show we all watch together. Ya it's a little far-fetched, but really, what show isn't?

Narcotics are counted at the end of each shift.

I like CSI NY, but then, I like Gary Sinese.

Really?? Your kidding!! The more realistic a drama is, the more I enjoy it.

I have a love/hate relationship with that show. Yes, I wonder if he really would keep his job but I have dealt with some pretty arrogant Drs so maybe so. And he did steal the prescrip pad so it doesn't actually look like he is writing his own Rx.

No debate for me. I love the show & the character. It's fiction, I know that 99% of it would never really happen.

I haven't watched enough episodes to know who Wilson is so that answers one question.

Uhhh, have you seen how seriously people take Desperate Housewives?? :rotfl:

Wilson is the friend/other male Dr. (He is a lot cuter than House.)

Wilson is House's best friend. I think he is an Oncologist. If you watched last weeks episode (I haven't watched this weeks yet, its on the DVR) he is the one whose office House took over, the one who told Cuddy that House may be autistic.

In the begining of this season, I think it may have been the first episode, they showed House stealing Wilson's prescription pad so thats how he gets all the narcotics.

I haven't watched the show but I just know from a case that is ongoing here that an addict can get morphine. It seems that things often happened to this person. Perhaps the vial was cracked, the vial was dropped, the patient was in severe pain (think burns) and was supposedly given 2 vials (which in this case was 20 mg), they may have ordered 2 vials and only used one on the patient. Meds are counted where he worked too but it seems he found ways around that. That is until he was finally caught.

I don't think he stole the whole pad, just ripped off a sheet.

My personal favorite was when they did brain surgery because it was The Only Way. :lmao: I have yet to see a doc running down and doing their own lab work, much less going out and breaking into patients' homes to find the source of their disease. :)

There is a lot of stuff on TV that isn't reality based, though. Kids aren't as easy to raise as the Brady kids were. You can't do some of the stuff in court that they do on Law & Order. Criminals aren't as fun-loving as they were on Barney Miller. I doubt that anyone has ever had a day like Jack Bauer.

It is TV. Whenever you know a lot about the subject matter, you notice tons of details that aren't like real life.

But if it were like real-life, I wouldn't watch it. Real life isn't as interesting as House.

I like House. A lot. :)

This is the only piece that is true to life. I have been a nurse for over 20 years and he is as arrogant as a lot of the physicians I have worked with over the years. :teeth:
