i did the clairol houseparty i got great stuff in my box 7 coupons for free hair dye which can be very expensive and free venus disposable razors also expensive i only aplly for what interest me but i have to say i would like to do more my party was fun

Can anyone explain to me what exactly house party is? I looked at the website, but I'm afraid I still just don't get it.. :/

I haven't hosted one yet but I will give the info that I know. If you sign up at their website eventually they will send you an invite. As you can see from this board there are a lot of brand names here. When you get an invite you must apply. This just means answer a bunch of survey type questions to see if you are what they are looking for. If selected they will let you know and they usually do not let you know for about a month after you apply. They will give you an exact date or date range your party must be. If selected they will send you a package with all of the stuff. You invite people over and take pictures and send them in. I believe you do an exit survey but I am not sure.

I have applied for many that I didn't get but I did get: Ford/Warriors in Pink, Hershey Bliss, South Beach, Splenda and I think one more but can't remember what it was right off hand. Just keep applying; the party packs are great! We love them!

Two questions that immediately popped into my mind:

1. Do they send you this stuff for free? Does it cost *anything* to join?

2. Or is it more like a "party" where you're trying to sell things to the friends you invite over? You know, like selling purses or cosmetics or tupperware...

It doesn't cost anything to join and the party packs are free. It depends on the party as to what you get for free. For instance, the Sargento party I hosted I was given coupons for free bagged salad, free Sargento Salad Finishers, free Sargento Potato Finishers, salad servers, bowls, plates, forks, napkins, 25 free song downloads, and finally coupons for $ off products for my guests to use.

I supplemented the party pack and bought potatoes, drinks, decorations, etc. Anything else needed to make it a "party".

There is a question when you are completing a survey to be selected for a party that asks how much do you normally spend when hosting a party. Be sure and answer this truthfully. I know some people were surprised when they were chosen to host a party and were expected to purchase expensive sponsor items to complete their parties.

Finally, you aren't trying to push people into buying the product. There is no script or orders or anything. It's really just a fun, casual way for sponsors to get their product out to people without feeling like they are pushing it on you. I love the House Parties!

How many of you actuall get selected for a house party from houseparty . com? I have applied about 10 times and I have never been selected. I am just wondering if people actually get selected or if it like any other contest.

I did the Juicy Juice House party! It was so much fun! I just signed up for 3 more. Two of which are on the same day. I am hoping to get selected for one before the other but there is no way that I have found to cancel my bid. Good luck! Keep trying!

It's worth it! I've applied for many and hosted a few. Hershey Bliss, Arm & Hammer, Sargento, South Beach, American Idol, and Saving Grace are a few of the parties I've hosted.

Part of it is geography, part may be response time to their invitation. Your demographic is another important factor. Like others have posted, keep trying!

I've done 2 now - the Canon photo printer, and the Sex in the City one. I've applied for a ton, but just got those. I've been in the final group for 3 or 4 more, but didn't read my e-mail fast enough.

I got the Nestle cookie one back before Christmas (that one was great - we got huge cookie cookbooks) and True North for the Oscars. They sent like five bags of delish treats.

I keep applying, but like others I only apply to what interests me.

Yes real people really do "win" these party packages. I just hosted an Oscar Mayer Hot Dog Party last month!

I used to apply for all of them, but I only apply for the ones that I really think we'd be good candidates for. I've hosted the Lipstick Jungle/Maybelline/Orville Redenbacher, Saving Grace and Warriors in Pink House Parties. For a few minutes to fill out a survey, definitely not a waste of time for me!

I got the Ford American Idol one and it was a lot of fun! I just got an email about a Hot Wheels one in August, but the party date is when we'll be at Disney World! I"m actually kind of bummed that I can't apply for the House Party because it sounds like a good one! I also can't do the lunchable one because it is at the same time! I forwarded them to friends, so that maybe they could do them.

I can't wait to try and get the Canon party in the fall. I missed my chance last year because i didn't check my email soon enough. I know better now!

i am hosting my 5th party for hunt's which will be an adult pasta dinner party i have a great time hosting and my friends and family love the themes when i hosted barbie i made it a tea party for I can't believe it's not butter party i hosted a bake sale for woman's cancer research Love House Party half the fun is waiting for the box to see whats inside

I have done 4 of the 6 I applied for-the xbox 360,dominoes pizza, wizards of waverly place and the windows 7.I didn't get the Kuereg but my sister did and the canon one I got the email to be picked if I responded in time but I hadn't turned my computer on for 3 days so I missed out.I think they are great and definatly worth trying for.
