My wife and I will be able to get away from the kids one evening, and we are going to spend it in DTD/Pleasure Island. I am trying to decide between HOB and Fulton's. What are your preferences regarding the two restaurants? Which one do you think would be good for a unique dining experience for a couple in their 30's.

Also, does anyone really like the Adventurers Club? Does it take too long before anything starts happening? ie. will we be bored for a while before anything good starts too take place? Thanks!!!

I'd recommend Fulton's. We've had several nice experiences there and I think it's a bit more of a high end experience than HOB, which is more like a chain restaurant experience.

We tried HOB and it's really just a chain (like Ruby's) with some different flavors. The corn bread is pretty tasty though.

We've had some nice meals at Fultons, (I used to go when it was the Empress Lilly!) they used to have these blue crab fingers with a garlic butter sauce .. MMMmm I could eat pounds of those with a cold beer!

We've enjoyed the Portobello Yacht Club and they have one of the better wine lists in all of WDW.

Adventure's Club is one of my favorite places to just kick back, have some drinks and a few laughs .. depending on when you are dining .. head to AC around 9pm .. get down to the bar area on the bottom and hang out till the events start .. each "room" will have something every 15 mins or so and the main show is every 30-45 mins .. take time to poke around as this place is loaded with all kinds of quirky funny things ..

It will see a bit crazy and scattered till you get used to the flow so just unwind.

Since you are a couple in your 30's childless for the evening HOB might be nice because of the entertainment they offer. Check hob.com and click on Orlando to see if there is anything of interest the night you'll be out and about. Note that the shows in the Blues Kitchen are usually "free" so you can enjoy them while having dinner.

By the way a HOB signature dessert I highly recommend (don't expect to finish it): Raspberry and Granny Smith Apple Bread Pudding with an Oatmeal Topping, Creme Anglaise and Whipped Cream..its beautiful and delicious

:goodvibes

I would recommend Fultons for a little quiet time. Asked to be seated in one of the alcoves on the second floor. It is quite intimate and peacefule up there. I also really like the food. : )

HOB has a lot more energy. So it depends what you are looking for.

Another vote for Fultons! Great food, great atmosphere! We love it and its a do not miss for us when we visit WDW!

I'm going to go off the grid and say that I'd recommend Portobello Yacht Club over either choice. It's far better than Fulton's or HOB.

I had the most awful meal of my trip at Fulton's in June. This used to be one of our family faorites but we won't go back again. the food was so-so, the service extremely slow and unknowledgble and an employe was getting arreseted as we were finishing our meal:confused3 It could have just been a one time thing- who knows?

We only ate at HOB once and it was very good, nice ambeinece but it is a chain. Have you considered Wolfgang Puck's?

Thanks for all the opinions, folks. I think I'm veering towards HOB since we've been to anything like that before.

We've eaten at Wolfgang Puck before, as they had several here and there at various malls when we lived in California, so we'd like to try something different. Again, thanks everyone.

Just my opinion - go for House of Blues. We've eaten there 4/5 times - both food and service were excellent. We have tried Fultons twice - sorry, but we had bad service both times. We were really disappointed because it was a birthday dinner and it just wasn't what we expected.

Hate to break it to you, but Wolfgang is also a chain. He even does frozen food. :lmao:

Um yes thank you I am aware- HSN and all that...I have eaten at many of his restaurants in many states not just the WGP concept.

Hob is a great choice:thumbsup2

We love Fulton's and usually go every year. The only reason we are not going this year is because we were able to get LeCellier for dinner the night we would have gone to Fulton's. Even our very fussy kids, when they used to go with us, loved Fulton's. Beware though...it is not cheap by any means.

We ate at Fulton's last year and had the most pedestrian of seafood meals. The bisque was barely warm when served and things went downhill from there. The food quality was average Red Lobster type fair at best, in a nicer setting. Service and presentation were pleasant, food was not.

Also hit HOB last year and was surprised with the food quality, all 6 folks including a 9 yo had great meals with very well prepared food. Service was ho hum at times but the food made up for it. Will be going back when doing La Nouba again this year. Make a reservation for HOB by calling or on their website as we waited a while for a table at dinnertime. It's technically a 'chain' but there are only about 18 of them in the country and mostly in big cities so it was new to me.

Fulton's (we've eaten there many many times), never been disappointed in the food, service has been 50%/50% (BUT we tend to eat in the bar or on the bow of the boat).

HOB - chain - we've tried the one at DTD and one in Chicago (?) - didn't like the food and frankly, we could have been at a HOB anywhere in the country from the atmosphere / ambience.

In general, we prefer the eating establishments at the DTD end over those at the West End (of DTD) --
