Hi

I am looking for a car rental for rental period MCO (04/29 7:30 am-05/03 4 pm), I tried many codes and many websites, but right now the best rate I can find is Hotwire Hot Rate.

Mid Size 5 days
Models: Mazda 6 or similar* 1 large, 2 small suitcase
Pick-up location
In Terminal

$18.95/day
$146 26 includes all applicable tax recovery charges and fees

This is my first trip to Florida so I am not so sure if this is a good rate for late April rental. Anyone here know which car rental companies Hotwire use at MCO for Hot Rate? (Mazda 6 or similar)

I know that it is non-refundable/ no change allowed at hotwire.

I can't say much about the rate but if you have an entertainment book, there is a link to go to when you make your Hotwire reservation and you can save $10. You have to pay in advance like you said and mail in a copy of your receipt and the EBook coupon. They will credit your credit card within 6 wks. Sounds like a hassle but I've done it several times on cars and hotel stays.

I don't have Entertainment Book, it is not worth buying in my city.

Hotwire's "Hot Rates" are from the same pool of companies that they use for other bookings (Alamo, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz and National). As for the car, I find that Hotwire's classes are a little outdated in their examples. The Mazda 6 is no longer considered a midsize car at any of the agencies, it's more of a full size (part "class" creep that frequent travelers gripe about and part that the 6 is now a bigger car).

Some of the more common midsize cars are now the Corolla, Elantra and Sebring. Now there are exceptions and sometimes (in other words, don't count on it happening) you will get an upgraded vehicle because the midsizes are sold out.

Regarding the price, it's a great price IMO, a true 5 day rental is usually classified as a week and the rate all in for a week is a little below average.

Also, just for the heck of it, try making your reservation on the hour mark, I've found some wierd situations with rental bookings on the half hour mark (just how inventory management works).

Thanks, I decided to purchase it from Hotwire Hot Rate and we got Hertz Car Rental. It is a lot cheaper than booking at Hertz directly :D

I adjusted the pick up and drop off hour as described, but this is the lowest I can find.

Here's a little tidbit about the Entertainment Book. Like you the book really is no good to me from my home (Nova Scotia, Canada) so I went online, joined the pay by the month ($4.95) and got all my codes I needed and didn't bother renewing the next month. Another option is to just look online. The codes are all over the internet.

One thing to note...the codes have blackout dates applied to them and wouldn't you know it...my dates fall within that range so I'm glad I'm only out $4.95! :rotfl:
