Being on the opposite side of the country, we go to DW every year. We have not been to DL in several years. Can someone tell me the advantages to staying in one of the DL hotels? Thanks in advance!

ps. How crowded over Memorial Day weekend?

Memorial Day can get very crowded. Anytime kids are off school, it's gonna be busy!

The advantages of staying onsite are location (although not as much as WDW), early entry each day it's offered (which is offered right now, but not guaranteed) a private entrance into DCA through the GC (any of the three can use this with room key), GC kids club for all resort guests, and the biggest perk for me is the pools as there's nothing I hate more than a plain square. I love a resort style pool which the DLH and GC both have. PP is okay now because of the slide, but it's definitely my least favorite pool of the three.

The only other perk which cannot be measured monotarily is never having to leave the Disney experience.

Here is a good overhead view with the hotels and motel labeled.

You can see that many of the motels are just as close (and in a couple cases) closer than two of the three Disney Hotels. The three Disney hotels are still special to stay in but as far as cost and convenience go there are many on Harbor Blvd that are fine as well.

Call and check the rates at the Onsite hotels for season passholders. Sometimes you can save $60 a night, and the season pass is only $60 more than a 2 day ticket. And only one person in your party would have to purchase the season pass of course.
