Hotels (Scooter Friendly) on or near DLR Property

Hi all,

Preliminary trip planning is happening!

So my mom always uses a scooter due to severe arthritis and bakers cyst issues and we are planning a split stay trip to CA with starting in LA and ending in Anaheim.
Grand Californian and DLH are insane expensive. Paradise Pier seems to be ok. But can you tell me the big benefits to all three of these hotels besides spacing. My parents are hesistant on price but also my mom cannot walk to and from a good neighbor every day.

The Good Neighbour hotels on Harbour are closer than Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier. I’ve stayed at Disneyland Hotel several times and it’s a good 10 minute walk to the gate going at a quick pace.

Typically now we always stay at Hyatt Regency Orange County because we get a huge suite for 1/4 of the price and the shuttle drops off at the bus loop right outside security. Last trip my mother in law came and she rented a scooter that folds up and the drivers were very helpful with loading her up.

I do love staying on-site though for the extra magic, but it’s hard to justify when the price is so much higher.

Sounds like you need a scooter distance hotel. I cannot recommend one as I don’t know that info but if you revise your title to something like “scooter distance hotels?” by editing it you might get more targeted info.

PPH is not close like GCH or DLH. There are hotels on Harbor closer to the park entrances than that overpriced thing.

Also the only benefit to staying on-site now is distance to parks and room charging pretty much. There is no early entry anymore. Does PPH even have food back? I recall a discussion a few months back there were no open food options at PPH…

My parents went to DLR with my Uncle and Aunt (who are scooter folks) maybe 5 years ago. They stayed at GCH. I think 99.99% of folks agree that Disney hotels are way, way overpriced. However, my parents really felt that GCH was great with the scooters. They were able to take their scooters to the hotel room and plug-in the scooters and leave them in the hallway outside their room door. There was space for it and there was no complaints by CMs of this practice. FWIW, I've never stayed at GCH so I cannot help you with personal experience and my DD has a condition but does not need an ambulating device for her health condition (thankfully).

If your mom is planning to rent at the parks, maybe look at renting from an offsite vendor and having at your hotel to take back and forth to the parks. Then she can go back and forth as needed. My sister owns her own scooter so she was able to go back and forth from to the Hilton to the parks with ease. We would have rented from an offsite vendor if she did not have her own, even if we had stayed on property. The DLH and PP would be a decent walk still to the park entrances we noted as we tended to walk past in the morning on our way to the park.

If you haven't already pull up a map and check walking distances from places, example it is a 9-10 minute walk from Disneyland Hotel to the entrance to DL and about 12 from Paradise Pier. Most of the hotels on Harbor between Katella and Ball are 5-15 minutes, not much of a savings in walking.

Anaheim desert inn and suites across harbor is where I always stay, you can rent a scooter from select scooters and they will deliver to the hotel it's $45.00 dollars a day for a rental
