Hotels on International Drive?

We are going to stay 2 nights before our cruise and go to universal studios. Does anyone know of an inexpensive hotel to stay at close to the studios that is clean and in a safe area?

Any opinons on the Best Western Plaza - International Dr. Or the Howard Johnsons Plaza Universal Studios?

We stayed at Hawthorn Suites Universal. It was $89 a night for a 1 BR suite with living room, kitchen and BR with 2 beds in it.

Very clean and I would recommend it. Also included a free hot breakfast and they had free shuttle service.

Go to the hotel boards, you will get alot of info there.

I know some people have been unhappy there but we got them from priceline last year (33.00 a night) and I was thrilled. We had a large room with a small balcony that overlooked the pool, two queen beds... nice staff.. there are a bunch of pools and an icecream shop and tike ibar, I was quite impressed.

we stayed at the best western plaza several years ago. The hotel itself was ok, the location was great for us because we did other things besides disney and were able to walk many places and its right on the trolly route, so we split up several days and one took one kid and the car and the other took the other kid and the trolly. If you just want a room to sleep in it would be a good choice.
