Can anyone give suggestions or opinions on nearby hotels such as Carousel or Tropicana? Two older persons (70) don't want too much walking before and after the parks and were asking for advice on where to stay with their grandchildren. Any help would be appreciated (not too expensive as the dollar isn't too good!)

Two hotels that are always popular with the DL crowd are the Candy Cane Inn (closest boutique hotel "next door" to the DL entrance) and the Howard Johnson (across the street from the DL entrance). They are both comparable in price. The Candy Cane Inn also offers a complimentary continental breakfast.

You may want to check out www.tripadvisor.com to get some reviews on these hotels. Or go to the Disneyland boards to get more opinions.

We've only stayed at the Anaheim Marriott (loved it), Anaheim Hilton (hated it), and Hyatt Orange County (loved it). They all had shuttles to DL. We used www.Priceline.com to get our hotels. Thru Priceline, our hotel costs ranged from $42-$65 USD/night.

PM me if you want more info. Good luck with your trip planning!

We have 5 nights booked at the Candy Cane Inn for start of July. Never stayed there before though. The room is $92 USD per night with CAA discount.

thanks c&m,
I like Howard Johnson myself, in fact were staying there next month, but I think that may be a bit of a walk for them. The idea of a hotel with a shuttle is an excellent idea but I thought I heard hotels were discontinuing them or charging fees or something so I'm glad to here they still exist. Thanks.
