Hi there! I'm looking for a hotel in or near Williamsburg VA and seem to be having trouble deciding on one. We are a family of 5 and prefer either 2 rooms OR a suite where we sleep separate from the children.

I am used to Disney Deluxe resorts and want to make sure I pick a hotel that makes me happy. For my my #1 criteria is a VERY CLEAN hotel. Thats really the only thing i require to be happy!!

Can anyone recommend anything? Thanks!!

We stayed at Wyndham Kingsgate this past summer and really liked it there. It's a timeshare so we used our Wyndham points and were not disappointed. The pool was nice, the playground spacious, it has a decent miniature golf course, fire pit for roasting marshmallows, 2 arcade rooms, and tennis courts. We stayed in a two bedroom unit and it was fine. We cooked most meals in our unit and our only complaint was that the sink was small.

Yes, there are condos, and resorts that might have suites.
How are you doing your searching?

I was going to post a link to Wyndham rentals, but it does not look like these Williamsburg properties are on there.

I did a search and found them at the Extra Vacations page. But, they are only renting thru April right now?

Do you know anyone that has a timeshare (either II or RCI, doesn't matter) because you can get a week for next to nothing on the last call/extra vacation section. There always seem to be availability in Williamsburg. Huge suites, low prices. Crazy low. Even factoring in the guest certificate.

I have stayed in probably at least 50% of the timeshares in town. I don't think you can go wrong in any of them. I know that people complain about a few of them but I have never had an issue.

However, visions of Ford Colony (Marriott) still play in my head. Have done two stays there. Such a peaceful property. And clean!

And if you nab one don't forget to pull out the phone in the room. So you're not bothered with sales calls.

Thanks for all the input! I will let you all know where we decide. Though we are still deciding between Williamsburg and Richmond! Thanks for the input.

I would recommend staying in Williamsburg and visiting Richmond, unless the vast majority of the stuff you want to do is in Richmond. Richmond is really fun to visit, but I find Williamsburg better laid out for visitors. There are also many spacious timeshare options in Williamsburg, and Richmond is mostly hotels (I don’t think I’ve heard of a timeshare in that area).

Richmond is mostly hotels. It also is a much bigger area. You can stay in the city or the burbs. Short pump has a lot of nice, new hotels. A lot more options than williamsburg imo.

I'm surprised by the GWL recommendations. I've stayed there three times and it's musty smelling and just not some place I'd be excited about staying unless I was really set on an indoor water park.

Thanks to all! GWL isn't really our cup of tea, simply because our kids don't like water parks and I'd prefer something quieter. I've heard GWL is full of kids (rightfully so) and can be loud because of this.
