We are going to Disney starting 9/26 and anticipate staying overnight in Valdosta, GA on 9/25. Any hotel recommendations? Thanks.

My first choice in Valdosta would be the Country Inn & Suites, exit 18 (though the above mentioned Hampton is also a fine choice). We were there about a year ago, and it was immaculate.

If you want something less expensive, try the Econolodge, also at exit 18. This was built new as an Econolodge several years ago, and is much nicer (interior corridors, etc.) than what you normally think of when someone mentions "Econolodge'. It is of course more basic, but clean and well maintained.

We stayed at La Quinta on exit 18. It has free cocktails and snacks from 6-8 and a hot breakfast of eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy ect. It was clean and very nice.

I've stayed at the Quality Inn at Exit 3 before. Served it's purpose, a bed and a shower, and cheap.

Exit 3 which is now actually exit 5 is for Lake Park, Georgia which is about 10 - 15 minutes past Valdosta and right before the Florida State line.

I've got to admit, it was awhile ago. If I remember correctly, I went to the Choice Hotels website, punched in Valdosta, 25 mile radius and picked from the choices. So I guess that's why I figured it was still Valdosta.

I now stay at Eagles Roost campground at that same Exit. Great campground!!!!

Why dont you drive a few more minutes south to Lake City and spend all your dollars in FLORIDA? ;)

It's about sixty miles, or nearly an hour, from Valdosta to Lake City. That's not unreasonable, but it is more than just a quick run across the border, and when you have already been on the road 8-12 hours, it makes a difference.

I have been known to stop in Lake City on the way back north, though, with the opportunity to stay one more night in Florida at least incidentally influencing my decision to stop.

I was mostly kidding. Just doing my part as a good Floridian to try and get you to spend your money here. They've built a brand new Fairfield Inn by Marriott, and Hampton Inn and Suites in Lake City right off of 75.

...and I'd say they're only 40 mins apart, but that's just my driving :)
