My DH 20 year class reunion is in Vegas in Sept. We have never been there & are looking for suggestions for hotels. It will be our 2nd vacation in 15 years of marriage without our kids!!!!!

I would stay in a hotel mid-strip. I've stayed at Treasure Island and Flamingo. Our next trip, I would like to try the Mirage. If price is no problem, I would stay at Bellagio or the Venetian...both are gorgeous. The places I've stayed were in the middle of the price range. I would stay at either again, but I like to try different hotels. Have fun!:D

OK let me start in order..lol

DW adn I have stayed at the Mirage, Harrahs (twice), Treasure Island, Imperial Palace, Aladdin, and Excalibur. I would stay at everyone of these again except for Imperial Palace, just too many reasons to mention why will not stay there again. I agree about the cost. There is quite a range from hotel to hotel. Prices are very reasonable in comparision to WDW.

I would look at it this way, what theme of a hotel is your interest. Most of the hotels have a theme and you have many choices.

Bally's
Rio - best free casino show hands down

I also like Caesars Palace and Bellagio. They are more adult oriented. Personally I dislike Imperial Palace, Treasure Island, New York, Paris (HATE IT!!!) and Excalibur.

Harrahs does in a pinch as does the Flamingo. At the far end of the strip is Circus Circus, a lot of people like it, but it isn't my cup of tea, either.

There are so many choices! Have fun.

LOL Marsha, we LOVED Paris!

Definitely stay on the south end of the strip. I wouldn't go any farther north than the Venetian. If you want a really classy hotel stay at Bellagio or Venetian. Caesar's Palace, Paris, Bellagio and Mandalay Bay are all beautiful and have a lot of great restaurants. The only ones we didn't really like were Excalibur (run down and MILLIONS of kids), MGM (way too big--hard to get around) and Luxor (very cold and stark looking inside).

Before I discovered WDW I used to spend all my vacation time in Las Vegas. :)

I'd have to say the Rio Suites is my absolute favorite hotel/casino. You have a terrific view of the city and all the rooms are suites!

I'd definitely stay away from Imperial Palace, Barbary Coast, Circus Circus and Excalibur....they were some of my worst experiences.

Have a great time!

MGM is my absolute favorite. I love eating at Riccardo's.

I have also stayed at Pleasure Island and the one next door to Paris. (Bally's???)

OOPS- I really did mean Treasure Island :) :)

We enjoyed Luxor for the theming, also MGM Grand seemed to be a good location.

Jamsmom,

Sounds like you've got Disney-on-the-brain! Pleasure Island is in DisneyWorld, TREASURE Island is in Las Vegas. :p

DH and I have been a few times. ;) Actually we got married there! :)

1. Bellagio - the best of the best, beautiful large rooms, great casino, great buffet, the fountains are amazing, perfect location!

2. Venetian - all suites, great shopping, beautiful theme, strolling musicians are great, good location but a little farther down.

3. Paris - my favorite casino (dh won $500), love the theme, rooms are a little small, views are great!!! especially if you can get a Bellagio view. Great food and shopping too.

4. Caesars Palace (tower) - great casino, great restaurants, BEST shopping in Vegas, great location.

5. Mirage - love the tigers, love the volcano, love the casino, great location, good restaurants, great pool!

6. Treasure Island - great bargain!, beautiful pool area, nice casino, excellent food, good location.

7. Aladdin - great bargain also!, nice casino, rooms are nice, good location.

8. Monte Carlo - fantastic pool!, great location, good bargain.

9. MGM Grand - New York New York - Harrah's - Bally's - Flamingo - Luxor = I put all of these in the same range. They are nice but not my favories.

I've never tried Rio or Mandalay Bay, but I've heard great things about them. :)

Have fun choosing! :)

having had to spend proably 20 visits to Vegas....I'd suggest either MGM-Grand (my fav) or Caesars Palace....I dernt think you could go 'wrong' either way! :):)

The Rio is my favorite hotel in Vegas too. . . but it's only drawback is that's it's about a 1/4 mile off the "Strip" and that might be a problem for a 1st time visitor.

The places I've stayed and can vouch for are:

"High" End- The Mirage, Luxor, Caesars, Rio, Ballys, and downtown, the Golden Nugget.

Mid Range- Harrahs, Barbary Coast, Palace Station, and The Tropicana. . .

2 places I've stayed and wouldn't go back to: Excalibur- not terrible, just didn't like it. . and the Imperial Palace witch is a total dump. .

Hope this helps, and enjoy your trip!! :) ;)

How much do you want to spend? The Four Seasons (part of the Mandalay Bay) is absolutely the most exquisite hotel on all levels. We stay there every few years as a splurge and it's a wonderful experience.

I just got back from the Mirage and was pleasantly surprised; aside from dark bathrooms it was nice and a great part of the strip.

I've stayed at the Luxor and was not impressed by the rooms.

I'd also recommend Mandalay Bay or the Venetian. :)

Hey Michelle!!

I thought rooms at the Luxor were okay, but the problem I had was finding the right elevator to get to them!!!! :o

Easy to get turned around in that joint. . :teeth:

LOL, Willy! ;) And those "inclinators" make getting to your room (once you find it!) all the more fun! :teeth:

The rooms there weren't bad, just not as nice as some others I've stayed at. :)

I found that if you have enough drinks, you don't notice that as much Michelle.. . ;) :teeth:

I also thought the Luxor was a bit overrated for the rooms you get. I sure expected a lot more than what we got.

Have only been once in recent years, so I am hardly an expert. We stayed at Venetian (because we got it for $79/night!)...it was an awesome room. I personally loved Paris the most...the whole feel of it. And surprising to us we liked New York New York too. Have a ball!! I wish I was going!!!!!

I really liked New York, NY. Not too big, not too small, just right!
Plus, the piano bar (can't remember the name) is a lot of fun too.

We have stayed at MGM...its massive over 5000 rooms, BUT the service was impecable. Great pool complex....I believe it has 5 casinos...I kept getting lost while in them:rolleyes:

Mirage...incredible hotel and theming, loved it. Had a strip view...service was excellent..center strip location, pool was awesome.

Next month trying Monte Carlo :)
