We’ll be going this year for our first ever Halloween time trip Oct 3-11! Currently have a renovated family suite booked at Camelot Inn, but debating on a split stay with an on-site hotel since I’ve never stayed on property before. Just this week my husband got the time off work and now he & my parents also will be joining myself and my daughter.

Have also been looking at Courtyard rooms (for the 2 showers which would be nice with 5 people) or Hyatt House to have a bit more space & breakfast included. So still debating a bit. If anyone has suggestions for hotels with a bit more space for larger families please let me know.

We’re also planning to do a day at Univeral Studios this trip. I haven’t been there since 2004 and my 9yo DD hasn’t been. We’ve been reading Harry Potter and think she’ll enjoy Hogwarts area!

We fly in morning Oct 3 and debating spending our first 1-2 nights in the LA/Hollywood or Santa Monica area to fit in some other sightseeing around Hollywood & Highland, walk of fame and maybe some beach time. Then going to Universal on Oct 4. Would drive to Anaheim either night of 4th or morning of 5th.

Also open to a beach day somewhere closer to Anaheim for a down day or on a day we (hopefully) book Halloween party tickets for Oogie Boogie Bash. Any suggestions on day trips to Laguna/Huntington or other beaches?

Posters here like the Courtyard Themepark Entrance, Hyatt House, Homewood Suites, Springhill Suites (on Katella), Residence Inn Convention Center, and many of the hotels with suites on Harbor. Santa Monica and USH aren't really near each other (and traffic can make the trip seem even further), so you might want to focus on Hollywood and USH, then do DLR and a nice OC beach day. Laguna, Huntington, Newport are all nice beach trips from DLR. Do you want to go in the water or just look around and shop?

I’m at Hyatt house right now in a expanded one bedroom suite with kitchen. Its been really great and love the extra space. The walk is about 8-10 min from the entrance. Easy straight shot down harbor. We’ve stayed onsite a few times and honestly feel like it’s about the same distance as walking all the way thru downtown Disney. For the savings we will easily be staying at Hyatt house again in the future! Clean, new and modern too! Also, having the Walgreens below us is awesome!

We stayed at the Cortona (and rode the Toy Story bus most days) in a little family suite. We have 5 kids (2 to 12) and could have used a little more room, but it was economical and nice. One room had a king and one room had twin over twin bunk beds and a pull out couch. We got a mini crib for the 2-year-old.
