Are there Hotels close to DLP? Do you have to take shuttles to get to the park? And which hotel would you recommend thats close? We arnt really concerned about swimming pools or anything. Just a place to lay our exhausted heads at night. How about Resort hotels? Any good recommendations?

All the resort hotels are great. Depends what you're after/what your budget is.

If your budget is pretty low then I think the cheyenne will be best for you. Great themeing and like a 15 min walk to the parks. :)

The disneyland hotel is the one to go to for a once in a lifetime trip though. As it ON mainstreet!! :)

Excellent!!! That would be a life time fullfilled for my mom. I can always come up with that little extra $$$ and perhaps surprise her with a room on Main Street! Oh MY!!! I am like beside myself now. Its her 50th birthday so what a way to spend it. Thanks a million. Its only 2 - 3 Days for something that she will remember forever. Thanks a million.

Have a look at the hotel faq sticky to give to an idea of the various offerings.
Expect even the deluxe hotels to not offer the same standards as you would get in the USA. Can't help with how prices compare before taking account of the poor exchange rate $ - €.

Lol, she'll love it!

Just be warned its not a 'liitle extra $$' its a LOT!

Like double the moderate resorts and like triple the budget ones!

I CANNOT wait for my stya though!! So if you do book it I'll have like a billion photos for you!!!!

As a once Disneylander, now DLPer, let me help.

The Disneyland Hotel is victorian (like the Grand Floridian at WDW but smaller). It is the prestige hotel (like the Grand Californian) at the gates of the park with some rooms overlooking Mainstreet. Prices range from $500 a night per person to $1500 dependent on season and room. It feels a little like the Del Coronado in San Diego with Victorian disneyana (most disneyfied)

The Hotel New York is the same distance from the gates as the House of Blues or Tortilla Jo's is to the gates of DL Ca. It is an urban design and is about the same level of service as the DLH in california (but more adult in feel) prices range from $300-$600 a night. It looks a little like the swan and dolphin in WDW.

The Sequoia Lodge is just a little around the lake from the HNY and feels like lodges in Yosemite or Big Sur. It's a moderate hotel and not bad value. It is about as far as the Lego store from DL's gates in Ca. It is Wilderness Lodge or Grand Californian on a budget and much smaller scale. Prices run between about $250-$400

The Newport Bay is a New england style and similar to the Yacht and Beach club at WDW. It has poor service, but is pretty. It is like walking from the ESPN Zone in Ca to DL gate. Pirces run about $2600-$500

The Cheyenne is a value (no pool or aircon) - it is a cowboy town themed motel, and Santa Fe is Pueblo themed motel - v basic. They are ok and can run $180-$350 a night. Walking distance is like walking from the farthest reaches of the Paradise Pier or DLH in Ca to the front gate.

Off site the Holiday Inn is excellent value with pool etc. at about £150-$240 a night. And there are other partner hotels - Explorer's, Kyriad, Dreamcastle, Radison SAS all about 1 mile away. Marriott has a vacation club with 2 bedroom french style villas on the DLP golf course - 2 miles away. Then there is Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch with Cabins, but a car is needed.

Then there are options in the new town of Val D'europe with a huge mall. It is 3 minutes away by train.

Hope that helps. Personally if it is a once in a lifetime and you are huge DL fans, the DLH may be worth while or if on a budget, stay at the Holiday Inn.
