We are making the 18 hours drive to WDW and will be stopping multiple times on the way there and back over night. We plan on staying @ Holiday Inns, Marriots, etc. If your a AAA member do you get a discount? And what is the procedure, just show the card? Thanks

thanks, giving it a bump to see if others have had any experiences with it. We don't travel much, only our yearly Disney vacation that I do thru Disney Website.

If you have a general idea on which city you will be staying in have aaa book it now and that will apply the code. you will not be charged until you check in. most of the time you have until check-in to cancel without penalty.

Or, all rest stops have ROOMSAVER books with great discounts on local hotel rooms.

We have driven twice from New Hampshire to WDW. Both times we planned out our route before we left and made hotel ressies over the internet. We booked using a AAA discount and then just printed out our confirmation page to show the front desk when we arrive. We also show our AAA card when asked.

Some webistes you will have to type in your AAA card number before it will even show you the discounted room prices for you to book.

Thanks, do you know of the cancellation policy?

Just curious, are you driving to do sightseeing along the way or trying to save money. Chances are flying would be less expensive then driving if you are planning on stopping for a couple nights.

Well we want to sight see on the way back (checking out Hilton Head SC and Virginia Beach), Fiance is off from Aug 19th-Sept 1st :cool1: so we're kind of doing a last hooray before school starts for DD.

And I wouldn't get anything cheap now being that we leave in 27 days, I booked my mom's airfare 2 months ago, for her, my dad and my sis and it was a little over $1600 :scared1: We have flown 2 years in a row and combined I don't think we have paid that much!

You might want to rebook their flights-I just checked flights from Newark to Orlando for your dates and the tickets are under $200/person. Even with the cancellation fee you would save a lot of money. Booking flights too soon can cause you to pay more than you should. Flights are typically the least expensive about 25 days out.

Cancellation policies vary by chain, or sometimes even by property.

:thumbsup2

Just be sure to double check what deal you are going with. Typically AAA prices at a hotel allow you to cancel by a certain time and you will not be charged. Some internet only prices you can NOT cancel and they will charge you for the night regardless of whether you are there or not.

We are big fans of Super 8 hotels for a road trip. Just someplace to sleep and get rested up for our trip to Disney or our trip home.

The other thing is that we've only ever gone in Nov/Dec so the prices were pretty decent, anywhere from $59-$70 for the night. Not sure what they are like in the summer.

haha no I am not touching their flights, seriously my mom is super anal, it HAS to be Continental, and they are leaving on Saturday the 21st, I think that contributed to why it cost so much.
