We will be at DL prior to our winter Disney Cruise and wondered about which hotel to stay at for a few days before the cruise. We are doing Disneyland for 2 days with a 10 month old and I want to stay close enough to property that we can walk safely. Should I just shell out the money and stay on property, but it seems to me that you still do a fair amount of walking in that scenerio as well. Just want your input...never been to Disneyland.

Hi emilyann415. If money is not an issue the Grand Californian has a private entrance into DCA. Therefore probably the best location. However the hallways are forever long, a real maze to get to your room.
The "Good-Neighbor" hotels on Harbor Blvd., would also be a consideration as they are just a short walk to the Esplanade. The best location there would be the Park Vue Inn, next to that is the Desert Inn, and on the other side seperated by the IHOP is the Park Place Inn, and the Tropicana Inn.
IMHO, when I want to save money and still want to stay close I chose the Park Vue Inn. :tink:

People say the DL hotel is further than some of the harbor hotels. I dunno, didn't seem like it to me (more like the same). But the plus is you don't have to wait at a crosswalk of a very busy road and then cross it, which is a huge plus in my book. If you do stay offsite, you might want to consider the Candy Cane Inn. It's on the same side of the street as DL and has its own shuttle, which if you plan around you can take back and forth to the hotel as needed.

Last trip I loved riding the monorail back to the hotel with my kiddos when we needed a break. It made it seem like less walking.

Another great thing about the Grand is that there are Graco Pack n Play's in every room! We thought the location was unbelievable. We've stayed at BWPPI on our 2 other trips, and liked it there also. Good luck and have fun!

The DL hotel has pack and plays in every room too. A really nice feature!
