We went to DL last year and did a combo of HoJo and DLH. We are thinking of going back this July/Aug but want to try something less $$$ then DLH and about the same as HOJO. What is your vote for these three so far that I have looked into. I've read the boards here, tripadvisor and looked at the maps as well as googled photos of each. We want clean and close and side perks would be good pool and breakfast. No extra parking fees is a must in my way of thinking. We are a family of 4 (2 boys 10-14 2 adults).

Any other that didn't make my list?

Please vote! This seems to be the basic question on this board right now! Thanks for posting it!

Given your specifications -- Candy Cane Inn. Best breakfast out of all of them and best pool. From what I hear (we've never stayed there). Downside -- slightly further walk. But then again, they run a shuttle so you wouldn't have to walk at all.

The pool at DI&S is indoor and I'd always heard kind of icky (overwhelming chlorine smell). I don't know anything about breakfast there or if they even offer one.

The pool at BWPPI is outdoor. Nice enough; I swam in it once. Breakfast was alright, but more limited and basic than what it sounds like CCI offers.

Yes the Desert Inn pool is kinda chloriney at times. We stay there alot but don't swim there at all. DI is primarily my pick mostly because it is clean and comfortable and is the best priced for how much room you get, but also given your interests, I would say the Candy Cane Inn would most likely suit you the best!! I just haven't been able to cough up their prices yet as I won't pay over $100 a night unless I'm onsite!

Candy Cane Inn all the way! I would NEVER EVER stay at the Desert Inn again! It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at anywhere!!!

Price seems to not be that big of difference for teh dates I am looking at this summer. Low was 109.00 DI and high was 139.00 Candy Cane, 129.00 being the middle with Best Western.

As far as under 100.00 I couldn't find anything that seemed to be within walking distance with good review as clean for under 100.00

I have nothing to offer in way of recommendation but I'm trying to decide on a hotel myself and just having a hard time. I'm trying to talk to my husband and figure out what is most important to us. I had a ressie at CCI and cancelled it but now I'm thinking of rebooking there or at HoJo...just not sure. While the prices between hotels vary, they don't vary that much in the same class KWIM.

I recommend the Sheraton Anaheim...prices are very good and the hotel is gorgeous...they have their own shuttle as well...its a great place...and you can go outside and see the fireworks:)

I've stayed at three GN hotels, none of which you've suggested. I put other because I did like the Fairfield Inn Maingate. Ramada Maingate was okay, but not as comfy or convenient. Got a super-cheap deal at the Alamo Inn on the other side of the park via Travelocity, and let's just say I got what I paid for... I've stayed in worse in other cities though.

I voted other...
I have never stayed at any on your list. I do NOT enjoy having to take the shuttle to and from our hotel. I hate waiting for it, I hate having to hurry when the park closes to catch the last one and I always feel like we are wasting time.
So the last two times we stayed at hotel right across the street. in 02 we stayed at the Tropicana and in 05 we stayed at the Carousel. I wont stay at the Carousel again. It was uncomfortable and I found the staff to be rude, the pool sucked.
However we LOVED the Tropicana. Very nice pool, had been recently redecorated. Was very clean. Nice continental breakfast. and best of all only steps away from the main cross walk to Disney and lots of Restaurants.:thumbsup2

JMHO :flower3:

I really, truly think it's a "six of one" kind of thing. We have stayed at virtually every single hotel on Harbor that is walking distance---most several times! They are all very similar IMO.

The only reason we are partial to DI&S is the Parlor Suite. We have 3 kids, and usually travel as a group of 7 or 8, and the larger family suites have worked out very well for us. Particularly having the living room area (third TV, place to hang while the kids sleep) has been good for us.

I'm in the "less than $100 a night gets my vote" camp. For us, it's about frequency, so budget is always a consideration. YMMV!!!

We always stay at the DI&S. It's a short walk. The price is good. We bring cereal and bowls to go along with the breakfast. Never used the pool though... kinda smelly.
