We are considering flying in the night before our cruise, and staying at a hotel close to the port. Does anyone know which hotels offer a free shuttle to the port? We were hoping to stay somewhere as cheap as possible. Thanks! :cool1:

The Radisson does...its not to expensive, I think around 119.00 a night.

We have stayed At Best Western, and Comfort Suites, both under 100$ and they have the shuttle..

:)

Just made a reservation at the Radison for a "cruise package". Includes parking for the week (which we don't need), breakfast, and shuttle for $139. If you try to just book the room without the package it is $149!

Since this is our first time doing this, I will be curious as to how it works out.

Did you make the reservation online? Be sure to click on "view all rates" to get the cheapest one. Usually the one without cruise package is cheaper. We got our room for 119.00 a night and booked our 10am shuttle reservations a year in advance to be sure we got on an early shuttle.

Nope, I called in when I got all confused about all the different rates and packages online . . .

I'll see if I can look into it.

We are cruising with another family, and thought the 2 dads could drop off the families, and then go back to the hotel for the shuttle back over.

That's what we tried in December, but it's actually better to have the whole group take the shuttle. Without the dads, it will be harder to get the party (and luggage!) through the gates, into the building, through security, and up the narrow escalator to the check-in area. The Radisson shuttle is very roomy, with an adequate luggage section in the front. You book a specific time (10:30 was good) to be picked up, so you are assured seating for everyone in your group.

Have fun!

We may take your advice and try the shuttle, but I had no problem dropping my DW and DD at the port last time. I checked the luggage as if I was parking at the port, DW took her carry-on, and got us checked in.

My only problem was that I was retunring a rental car at Budget, and I had just missed the group of shuttles. Had to wait about a 1/2 hour to get back on the next shuttle.

I was able to be dropped off by DH while he parked the car & was finished with check in when he got upstairs. He just had to show his ID to the same CM to get his KTTW card.

I would want to be dropped off if my DH was parking at the port, but we were leaving the car at the Radisson. Having him drop me & kids, drive back to Radisson, take shuttle back to port didn't make sense. Especially since we had lots of carry-on, a stroller, etc. It was much easier to stay together on one shuttle.

If we take another cruise (iffy at this point -- since my husband's memories of crossing the currents from the Gulf of Mexico still cause him to reach for Pepto-Bismol), we would probably skip the shuttle entirely. I hadn't realized that the DCL parking is literally across the street with no traffic issues. When we disembarked on the last day, I rather envied the people just walking across the street to their cars. The wait for the Radisson shuttle was short, but after we got on, it made one other stop at another cruise line to pick up more passengers. So we had to wrestle the luggage onto the shuttle, wait for the extra stop, wrestle the luggage off the shuttle, then finally into the car. I would have preferred to just walk across the street from the terminal and perform one wrestleage. With the higher cost of the Radisson (even backing out the value of the breakfast), plus tips to the shuttle driver in both directions, you probably save money staying elsewhere (even adding in the cost of the port parking).

But the bottom line is that there is minimal difference in both cost and efficiency between the Radisson shuttle and parking at the port. One thing I especially liked about the Radisson shuttle -- it made for a great extra photo op for my "arriving at the port" scrapbook page! It's a nice, shiny white shuttle. The seats are upholstered in deep, royal blue. ;)

We have always used the port parking lot but will be staying at the Radison this time & trying out the shuttle. LOL! I will also miss the convenience of the car being right there & the porter packing it up for us :) but there was limited availability for the night we needed in Port Canaveral & the parking fee & breakfast backed out of the R's cost made it feasible for us to try.

The radison will let you park for free no matter what so please make sure you are not paying extra for parking

Are you certain about this? Just wondering because when I called the hotel last night & asked about the government rate which was 105.00 I was specifically told that we could not leave the car there. :( Of course, it also didn't include the breakfast buffet. This is the first hotel that we have tried to book at with a special rate where it didn't include everything in the regular rate. Nothing very special about it that way IMO.
