I have a friend who is going to Disney for the first time and she was asking about the Hotel Royal Plaza. I have NO info for her since I always stay on site. I really want her to have the best time since it will be a special trip.
Anyway she is going Oct 2005. She can get a rate of $74-$134 from her job ( those are the rates for this year but it will about the same for next, give or take). She will be traveling with her DH and DS who will be 2 1/2.

1) Is this a good rate for Oct.?

2) How is the location? Will it take her long to get back to the hotel for naps?

3) What kind of transo. does it offer and how often does it run? Is it reliable?

4) Is this a nice hotel? How does it compare to Disney Hotels? Any reviews would be great.

Any other info we should know would be much appreciated. Feel free to be candid. We want all the goods, not just the nice stuff. What do you guys think? Worth it?

Thanks sooo much.

I have only stayed there one night. We were in Disney a day early so we booked there. It was 69.00 for the night. We were in a room out of the main building. We found our room dirty and our pull out sofa was all wet and black mold all over it. Even our balcony was green slime and mold on it. When we woke in the morning my sister's luggage was all wet. The floor were she placed her luggage was soaked. Other people have stayed here and loved it but our experience was bad. :earseek:

I have not stayed here but have considered it due to mary from mousesavers it's one of her preffered hotels. I have seen mixed reviews and found that those that liked it paid more to stay in the tower rooms. You can get more info at the website mousesavers.com.

Thanks. Any one else with experience? It doens't look good so far.:(

HMMM. It seems 50/50. I am not sure what to suggest to my friend now. Sorry Shaneiqua! It's a little hit or miss for my taste but it could be great. Maybe I will post a poll.

We stayed there last July and are staying there again this year. We had twelve rooms last year and they were all clean and dry(tower rooms). I had heard bad things about the regular rooms so no one in my group stayed in them. Your friend can probably watch for a deal and pay less than her work is offering. I wouldn't think she would have to pay more than $60-70 a night. My whole group was very happy with the rooms and the whole hotel and staff. The pool is big and has a nice pool bar where you can also order food. I saw a few bad posts about the restuarant (which we didn't eat in) but we ordered at the pool bar several times and it was always good. (Try the turkey Reubon). I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The bathrooms are huge and have garden tubs. Pretty sure there were Bath and Body products in the bathrooms too.

We stayed at Hotel Royal last September using an offer from Travelzoo for $ 69 a night plus a free upgrade to a tower room plus 1 night free after a few paid nights. We stayed at two other resorts, and my wife liked Hotel Royal the best. The staff was outstanding and friendly. What I enjoyed from the staff was whenever we asked for something, it was a matter of mere minutes before someone was knocking on the door, and then shortly after the front desk would call to verify that you received what you asked. The tower room was large and attractive, and our room had a big roman tub in it. I agree that the tower rooms are better, and I did notice the hotel hallways needed a sprucing/paint job. As for transportation, we didn't use the shuttle but the hotel is just a few minutes from the parks. Other than that, we had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at this hotel, and we are considering staying there again on our next trip. If you get a tower room, I think you will enjoy it.

Me and my husband stayed there in October of 2003. We had a good room the bathroom was clean and we both managed to fit in the TUB!!! for a bubble bath. People were nice no complaints. Balcony was nice we could see downtown disney lights etc. Cute mickey phone at the reception area where you pick up and it goes direclty to disneyworld.
