hi, we are looking at this hotel for next year, and there have been some good revues, has anyone stayed here since the renovations, we are trying to decide between this hotel and the dolphin, we have just returned from a stay at the dolphin and it was lovely, but there is £850 difference between the two hotels and thats a lot of money, please any advice greatly appreciated thanks susie2

I have heard positive things, but never been myself.

I guess with the Dolphin you are paying for the fabulous location and the upscale resort :thumbsup2

Here is a link to the Mouse Savers site where they recommend Hotel Royal Plaza and usually offer a nice discount.

I stayed there for one night in March and found it to be very nice. The renovations are lovely. It is a small, intimate hotel. I did have a few minor maintainance issues with my room, but the staff was fantastically efficient and attended to my problems immediately.

I didn't use the restaurants or the pool, so I'm sorry that I can't advise you on that.

The location is wonderful though. You are very close to DTD and non-Disney shopping and restaurants.

They do have complimentary busses that will take you to the parks and back. We didn't feel like waiting for a bus and took a towncar over to Pleasure Island. Be sure to negotiate the price before getting in, we paid $7 one way.

The Swan & the Dolphin are two of my favorites, but the Hotel Royal Plaza is an excellent value. I will definitely stay there again. :sunny:

thank you for your replys, we have decided to go to the royal plaza, as we can go to more mvmcp's and have more spends(we can spend more now the allowance has gone up, or it will have by the time we go back), thank you very much for the link to mousesavers, she said some lovely things about the hotel and put our minds at rest, thanks again susie2

I think you have done the right thing, I notice this hotel has been recently renovated and is also in an excellent location.

To be honest we have looked at reviews in the past on the likes of TripAdvisor, and if you went off everything said you would probably never end up booking anywhere - I think you have made a good choice.

So glad I found this thread! I booked this hotel for our stay next month so it's good to hear positive reviews, it sounds like just what we are looking for and a great location.
