We returned this weekend from our final annual-pass stay this year. Because the value season for WDW started on 8/25, we stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Royal Plaza at 75/night. They must have listed, said, and wrote a million times how the resort fee was 7.00/night.

We went through the mouseavers site to book the special for 75/night + breakfast. It lists the breakfast as a 13.00 savings but the buffet was listed at 10.95. Valet parking was available.

We got a 4th floor standard room with a view of ... ta da ...a roof and delivery area! I believe the room we had was one due to be refurbished as the carpet was in need of replacement and the tub was cracked on the surface in one area. I had recently watched a travel special on PBS that mentioned a fire fighter would probably be unable to save anyone above the 8th floor, so I didn't ask for a higher room. I'm not all that crazy about looking at DT Disney anyway.

The location was great. The hotel shares the bus service with the other DTD hotels. The service was pretty good, we found all of the staff to be very friendly. The tub was huge and they offered teeny tiny bath n body products - junniper I believe. Vanilla scented bath soap, peach scented facial soap and a rubber duckie! The sitting area offered a nice alternative to sitting on the bed or hard chairs. I would call the room a JR suite, though I've never stayed in anything referred to as a JR suite.

The gave us vouchers for the breakfast buffett and my dd ate free. I thought the breakfast was a step up from the 3.99 offers in the area. I would not, however, pay 11.00 for the breakfast. It featured hot and cold cereals, scrambled eggs, spicey breakfast sausage, bacon, danish, OJ, grits, biscuits and gravy, and an array of cut up fresh fruit. All of the staff in the restaurant were fabulous!

The mini-bar had some sign strictly prohibitting placing your own food in there. We did not use the mini bar for anything other than storing a soda or juice to get it cool. The safe was very large.

We had stayed in at the Courtyard by Marriott at the 20/night rates this year and thought it was a good deal. This hotel is a definite step up from the Courtyard. I would give this hotel a try if you are looking for something a little larger than a standard hotel room with a little more of a luxurious feel to it.

Just wanted to clarify the "value" of the breakfast. As my site says, "The breakfasts are valued at $13.25 per person per day, including tax and gratuity," which is accurate. That's $10.95 x 6% tax and 15% tip, all of which are included in the voucher. :)

We also booked through mousesavers with the $69 rate (+ tax+resort fee) and free breakfast. Since I did all of the planning, my husband was pleasantly suprised to see what I managed to get for such a good rate.

I thought this hotel was exactly what Mary described. Beautiful and a great value. My husband and I had a standard room which was fine just for the two of us. We were on the second floor (not the tower) facing the street which was fine giving the lush landscaping. Our bathroom had a standard tub, but was not cracked or in need of repair in anyway. Staff was friendly and prompt, never had a problem.

We thought the breakfast was wonderful. RM, I hope you didn't miss the do-it-yourself Mickey-shaped waffles as you first walk in, because they were delicious. I had one every morning that we were there. Also available were sausage, dounts, muffins, bagels, silver dollar pancakes, and several varieties of toast.

We thought the location was great. We didn't realize how close we were to DTD until we were tired of waiting for the bus late one evening after dancing the night away at PI. We decied to walk back and made the walk in about 10 minutes. I thought the transportation was great too. We never waited more than twenty minutes or so, and were glad not to deal with driving around in an unfamiliar city.

Everything else was just as RM described. If you are looking for something a little nicer, but still on the value side of pricing, HRP is the way to go.

Mary, I would like to give more details on how your site was so helpful in my planning process. Please let me know how I can submit a testimonial.

Thanks,
Marvelyn

Yes, we've had the make your own waffles before - clever item that it is.

I think I might have appreciated the breakfast if the eggs were not as watery and did not have anything added to them (there was an herb - not parsley-tasting but looked like parsley). I thought the sausage was great though.

I just received an email from them thanking us for our stay and an offer for 10.00 off our next day.

:)
