Ok so as I understand it you can use your room key in disney at the shops and restaurants to pay? Do they put the money on the key before or after your stay? What I mean is when do they charge you credit card?

That's a good question. I've had it done two diiferent ways. I always thought it was placed on the CC at the end of the visit. Because I would go to the front desk every couple of days and ask for a print out of the bill and then put cash against my bill (to avoid a CC bill).

My last visit at CBR they placed the charges against my CC during the stay. I didn't like that because I did have the cash for it and when I viewed my bill after a couple of days I saw that the CC was already charged. I had to be extra careful not to spend that cash, because I needed to save it for when my CC bill arrived the following month. Can you follow me?

So, I'd ask at the desk. My CBR stay is the only time they charged my CC before the end of my visit.

I believe they always charged my credit card at the end of my visit and we use the room card often because I get nervous carrying around cash.

The threshold where they charge your card varies by resort. I believe if you hit $500 at certain resorts, they will put a charge against your card. Ask at check-in what number they use if you want to avoid the credit card charge mid-stay. I remember when I stayed at CBR I had a mid-stay charge too.

You also need to be careful that they charge it to a card you want to. We stayed at the BCV last year with our friends. We knew they would charge to a card so we took a card with us that had nothing on it. My husband and I bought our length of stay pass with a card and our friends bought their pass with the card with no money currently spent on it. We then asked for their card to be the card used for the room account (we were told we could only have one account for the room which was not a problem as we could see who had bought what as the room card numbers have different digits on which appear on the statement.) We got to the second week of the visit and one day the card was declined as we had reached the limit. Not a problem we thought, we will go and pay the balance off at reception. However when we got there we realised that this was the 2nd time our limit had been reached (the first time we had not been told they just charged it to a cc and set our room key limit back.) Looking at the statement though they had charged it to the wrong card. We were told the only way around it was to charge it to the correct card and then they would refund the money from the other card. This they did but it took 2 months for the money to be creditied back to us!!
Next time we will make sure they charge it to the correct CC.

If you place a credit card on file, you may charge things back to your room using your room key. Value resorts have a $500 limit, Moderates have a $1,000 limit, and Deluxes have a $1,500 limit. Once you reach this limit, your credit card on file will be automatically charged that night, and you will recieve a new limit. Any charges at the end of your stay will be billed at 3am of the morning of departure.

If you wish to pay in cash instead of having it charged to your card, you can give cash at check-in, and they will take away from the cash instead of charging your credit card. (Once you run out of cash, then it goes into the resort credit limit as described above)

Or, you can pay the night before departure. If you wait till the day of departure, your card will have already been charged.

Due to credit card companies (this is all over, not just Disney) it can sometimes take 2-3 billing cycles before a credit appears on your credit card. I don't know why, but that's just how they work.
