Our favorite restaurant in MK has always been LTT but without the characters, it just won't make our list of must do's this year. Looking at the other restaurants in MK, they are not exciting either....we did CP a couple of years ago & it rated the "worst" meal we had that year; The Palace just doesn't appear to have good bang for the buck (we're on the DDP); & Tony's menu is too limited for our family, nothing too exciting.

So, I was thinking that on those days that we are in the MK park (probably three times in 12 days), we can leave, hop the monorail & visit some hotel restaurants. Easy? Reasonable? What TS restaurants would be worth the visit along the monorail route?

Open to all suggestions!! Thanks!

We really love 'Ohana for dinner. Great atmosphere, entertainment and view of MK! The food is fantastic! There is live entertainment--singing, limbo for the kids etc. If you time it right, you can watch Wishes from your table or walk down to the beach and watch from there. We watched from the beach on our last visit and it was wonderful!

If you are looking for characters, 1900 Park Fare is a character dinner with Cinderella, Prince and step mother/sisters. I have heard great reviews but have not been.

CM is perfect for Mickey/Minnie and friends. The food is so-so but a must on all our trips!

So many really good choices around the monorail circuit: Kona Cafe, The Wave and Grand Floridian Cafe are all moderately priced restaurants with good food. California Grill is fantastic as is Citricos at the GF. Narcoossee's has a great view of Seven Seas Lagoon and our last dinner there in January was excellent in every way. The last three are all signature so would be two credits.

And of course, Victoria & Alberts is truly fine dining but not a place to go with kids or after a park...but I can't talk monorail dining without mentioning it.:rotfl:

BlakeNJ told you about the "action" meals around the monorail. If you're trying to find a meal like that WCC at the WL is another action meal. You can take the boat or bus to WL.

As for ease of heading over to the monorail resorts, it is easy and fun.

I have done Park Faire @ GF both breakfast and dinner, both meals offer an excellent buffet and different character interactions. Ohana is also excellent as is Chef Mickey's. I also really like the counter service at Contemporary next to Chef Mickey's. (They have a marinated beef and goat cheese flat bread that is out of this world!) If you take the monorail loop to the Epcot areas you will have even more options!!!

Although it is not on the monorail loop, you can take the boat launch from the MK to the Wilderness Lodge, the Whispering Canyon is so much fun. The resort is beautiful as well.

For casual dining, check out Kona, Ohana, and the Wave. For something a like more upscale, check out California Grill, Criticos, and Narcoosees.

CR- Chef Mic's or The Wave
Poly- Kona Cafe
GF- 1900 or GF Cafe
Been to all all r good in my opinion.

Dinner at 'Ohana is my favorite meal at WDW, hands-down.

Breakfast at Kona Cafe is also excellent.

I haven't been to Chef Mickeys in years, but I always loved it (more for the food than teh characters, I'm just not a character kind of guy).

If you're looking to fill in the "Fun" factor, I would take the boat launch over to WCC at the Wilderness Lodge! The food looks terrific, a friend of mine went with her kids and said it was the highlight of her trip - even BETTER than seeing Mickey was watching her son's face as they did their ketchup routine!! :lmao:

I agree with this, two thumps up for Ohana, Kona Cafe and Chef Mickey's.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 We really had a great time in those places.

The boat launch to Whispering Canyon is a great idea - food is good and the "show" is fun.

For monorail restaurants, DW & I would both vote Kona the best for price/food combo. The Wave is a great choice as well, and I really liked Floridian Cafe for Breakfast and Lunch. I haven't tried dinner there yet. I haven't been to 1900 Park Fare in 6 years, but it was a solid buffet choice back then. Of course, times change so I can't honestly comment on it now.

The upscale choices are all great. For the record, I would rank them Narcoossee's, CG, Citrico's, but you are talking about a 9.4, 9.0, 8.9 on a 10 pt scale.

I was less impressed with the Spirit of Aloha dinner show at Poly, but kids might like it. I didn't think the food was that great - then again, that was also 6 years ago. Maybe it has changed in quality.

When was that visit to Crystal Palace? I wonder if it has improved since you were last there. We had a good experience there last summer.

I don't think you mentioned the Plaza - nice little place tucked away in MK and definitely worth a try.

Good luck.

I would go back to O'hana's in a second but hubby didn't like the food there. Of course, I love that kind of food and he does not. :sad2:

Whispering Canyon is also another good choice. I haven't been to any of the other places though so I cannot comment. In another month I'll be able to tell you though. :)

I think that any restaraunt in the MK resort area would be fun to go to, and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the MK, especially for lunch. We've eaten at pretty much all of them, and prefer the by far to eating lunch in any of the parks.

If you were looking for three to do for lunches, I'd do Kona Cafe at the Poly, WCC at the WL, and The Wave at CR.

Have fun!
