Now we have flights booked we are looking for a hotel/resort for 19/08 to 25/08.

We are a party of 4 and don't mind sharing a room.

I have seen loads but when looking at trip advisor reviews everything is always so negative (typical though people are quicker to complain than to praise)

We liked the look of a more low-rise offering that had some onsite restaurants or that was in walking distance of food places. We were interested in Wyndham Orlando Resort and Westgate Lakes. Any suggestions or favourites from people. We do not really want to spend more than £300 for the 6 nights which is quite achievable but I was hoping to get some suggestions from others.

We are not ones to spend loads of time at our accommodation - hence last years villa holiday not really being up our street.

Have a look at rosen inn pointe orlando (was quality in plaza)

We stayed 4 nights end 2009 before moving to disney. Thought it was great for the price.

Had just been renovated - fridge in room, free wifi, v clean. It backs on I4 but we had a room I drive side and it was fine. Lots of decent restaurants nearby - it's opposite wonderworks (upside down building) if you know where I mean.

This.
You should be able to get it for £30-35/night. Clean, cheap, nice pools and in the middle of everything.

Avoid the Wyndham - not a nice part of I-Drive and right at the point where traffic is atrocious.

Westbate Lakes is not on IDrive. It's the other side of the highway. Not much nearby.

Try also the Homewood Suites and also the Four Points (nearer the top end).

I would highly recommend Homewood Suites. Either of the locations on I-Drive is good.

Seen this at £186.00 less 4% Quidco for the 6 nights.

I am not a fan of Idrive so not really up on the hotels up there. If you decide where you want to stay post your best price and I will see if I can see it any cheaper.

A very good rate at the Fairfield Inn Marritt Village LBV, £217 less 5% Quidco = £34/nt, its a while since I saw it so cheap, includes 1 free night in the price, also includes breakfast and Wifi. Stayed here 3 times.

If you are doing Seaworld just seen this offer @ Doubletree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld, SeaWorld Area, Orlando
****
Transport to SeaWorld, Aquatica and Universal Studios
Complimentary Quick Queue Unlimited at SeaWorld
Early entry to SeaWorld and Aquatica on selected days
That would be £302 less 5% Quidco.

There is so much choice for that kind of money its difficult for me to list them all. Shout if you want any more help.

That is great price for Rosen Inn. We payed just under £100 I think for 4 nights back in December 2009 - was a special on travelzoo.

We have stayed in alot of that type of accomodation in US over the years and that was the best of that type we have stayed in.

WE also stayed here in 2009 for 2 weeks brilliant value and DH loved it because of its location was right across from Millers sports bar a firm favourite with my boys also near to Olive Garden, Poderossa, lots of resuarants. The hotel also has 3 swimming pools and a cafe plus bar which was good value too.

We have stayed many times at the Four Points by Sheraton near Wet n Wild! Rooms are really nice and never had an issue there! Rates are also very good there too each time we have booked but the last time was a few years ago!

Good location, lots of restaurants very close by and a crazy golf right next door! The I ride trolley stop was also very handy being straight outside!

Don't pay any attention to trip advisor, like you say, people rush to complain but if you have a good experience you tend not to post about it so it's not accurate by any stretch of the imagination.

Tripadvisor is an excellent site but you need read between the lines, don't just believe 1 or 2 comments. If its rated 299 out of 300 hotels then its probably a dire place but a couple of comments saying its the worst place on earth don't make it a bad hotel.
Hoteliers have been known to try give bad rep to another.
You also find people rating hotels on the price they paid, someone might rate a hotel 1/5 and complain if they paid £80/nt yet I might rate it 4/5 if I got a deal and paid £25/nt.
Its never going to be a perfect site but I think it gives a good indication of what to expect.

The reviews of Wyndham did seem a bit concerning, however, I found that the Rosen as suggested was overall far more positive.

I have a quidco account so need to identify who is the best to book with for the best price - I also like the free Wi-Fi too!

Thanks so much for all the responses.

I agree that the Rosen is great. In regards to Trip Advisor, take it with a huge grain of salt. Read positive and negative reviews and balance it out. The Confort Inn on Sand Lake is a dive according to TA but we stayed there twice and really liked it, no complaints at all and it was £20 a night both times!
