Hotel recommendations - Richmond, VA??

We are driving from the Philly suburbs to the Outerbanks in 3 weeks. The plan is to leave Friday, drive halfway, stay overnight and drive the rest of the way on Saturday. Richmond looks about halfway to me (or close enough). Does anyone have any hotel recommendations close to I95?? We are looking for clean and cheap (~$75). I would appreciate any suggestions!!!!

Before we moved to SC, we drove I-95 from NJ to SC about 4 or 5 times a year. We always stayed in Chester, VA which is just south of Richmond. It's exit 61 off I-95. There are many chain hotels at this exit with easy on/off access to 95. I can personally vouch for the Comfort Inn (I normally won't stay at Comfort Inns but this one is particularly well run with nice, clean rooms and a good deluxe continental breakfast) and the Quality Inn (originally a Microtel, this is still rather new and has a good breakfast and an indoor pool). If you use the I-295 loop around Richmond as we often did, use exit 15 Chester/Hopewell. We have stayed at the AmeriSuites at this exit. You are about 4 miles away from
I-95 at this point and can easily re-access it from here directly on route 10..

The fuel prices in the Chester area are quite good in comparison also.
