Hotel recommendations on the beach

We'll be spending 2 nights on the beach before going to Disneyland . We've got 2 adults and 3 kids and we'd like to all stay in one room. We're not picky about which beach, but we would love to actually be ON the beach.

We're having a VERY hard time finding a beach hotel that is:
1. Not seedy, and
2. Able to sleep 5 people in one room.

Well, we ended up going with West Inn & Suites in Carlsbad, CA. It was voted one of the best hotels in America on TripAdvisor. It's not exactly ON the beach, but it's close. Best of all, their suites can accomodate 5 people and they're not very expensive!

We are doing San Diego and Legoland after Disney and plan to spend a week at the Grand Pacific Palisades which is next door to Legoland. It had a 3 bedroom that would accomodate 10 people so we went with this place. It's suppose to have an ocean view and it's on the eastside of I-5 so some reviews said it wasn't that close to the beach you would still have to drive. But otherwise it got pretty good reviews.
