Hotel recommendations at/around Orlando Airport

We'll be cruising this October, and I'm looking into the likelihood of flying into Orlando Friday night instead of Saturday morning (eliminate the worries of last minute air travel issues). To that end, we're looking to find a quick place to stay close to the airport, and have some basic criteria:

nearby
shuttle service to/from airport
good value

Bonuses, like pool, internet access don't really entice me -- we'll be at the hotel from 9 PM to 9 AM! A free breakfast wouldn't offend me however!

Obviously, there is the Hyatt in the airport itself. But the quote I've seen of $195 is pretty steep for our limited time there.

Has anyone gone this route before? What hotel recommendations are there?

Hi we live here. There are literally 100s of hotels all within a stone's throw but I did notice a brand new Courtyard by Marriott. Where the road throught the airport comes out it is called Semoran or 436.

I just got out the phone book and looked it up----
1. La Quinta Airport West- 528 and Tradeport
2. Sleep Inn Airport- Mccoy (Airport Trans, cont breakfast)
3. Amerisuites NW- (break buffet, ?)
4. Embassy Suites -TG Lee (Airport Shuttle, Buffet Breakfast)
5. Country Inn and Suites-Forbes (cont. breakfast, airport shuttle)
Hope that helps. Coming in the night before is the only way. Make sure and get to boat early (11:00).

VA mouseman--We just got back from DCL May 8-12. We flew in the night before our cruise and stayed at MCO Hyatt. Beautiful hotel, great service and very convenient! They are pricey, but everything is so easy from there. Get off the plane, walk to the Hyatt, shop and eat at the airport, swim in the pool watching the planes come in. We set our luggage out in the hall and DCL picked them up and took them to the ship. We left the Hyatt about 10:30am and walked to the Disney Bus located near the airport rental car station on the lower level of the airport, and we were off to the port! Save money vs. save hassle. We were stressed enough with flight and luggage, security. Didn't want to have any other stresses. Glad we chose the Hyatt. In the scope of thing and price of the vacation, I'd do it again! One other note: skip breakfast at the Hyatt, not very good. I suggest the food court at the airport, because, once aboard ship, you will have a huge buffet lunch (go to Parrot Cay) that is wonderful.

Have stayed twice at Amerisuites, quick shuttle, it is their free shuttle so there are no other hotel stops, good breakfast buffet and I think it was about $75/$80 online at expedia or travelocity. Also, quick walk down the street for dinner, TGI Fridays and some other chains. Can't tell you anything about pool, we get in about 9pm Friday and have the car pick us up at around 9am on Saturday.

The Sheraton Suites are also nice, have not stayed there before cruise but for business.

Thanks to all for the responses so far. Looks like I have a variety of options to investigate. Our tentative plans are to arrive by plane at 9:35 PM Friday night, and to get to the DCL buses early Saturday morning.

:earsboy: Just got back from May 12-15 Wonder and stayed the night before in the Wingate Inn, about a 5 minute ride from the airport. Great room for an overnight and very cheap on hotwire. Three resturaunts within walking distance (bennigan's, chili's, and a steak and rib place). Call for a free shuttle service once arriving at airport and sign up for a shuttle service for the next morning when you check-in. Comp. breakfast in the lounge from 6-11. We took the 9:00 am shuttle and caught the first bus from the airport to the port. :earsboy:
