We are thinking of doing "Florida without the Mouse" :scared1: next August and are looking for some hotel recommendations.

I can't believe we are already planning this as we haven't even been to WDW this year yet.

The plan is to fly in/out of Miami. The two main parts of the trip will be aorund 4 or 5 nights at Vero Beach (using DVC points), a week around Naples/Marco Island area and the remaining 3 or 4 nights around Miami or Fort Lauderdale (these may be split into smaller stays depending on flight times, driving times etc).

Vero Beach is sorted but I could do with some recommendations for the others. Given that we will have DD(5), we would prefer a suite type hotel room or a condo as we all sleep much better if we are in seperate rooms.

Also, we will have a good wedge of VA Flying Club miles between us by the ned of the year. Will we have a better chance of using these on the Miami route as I know using them on Man/LGW to MCO route can be very difficult in school holidays.

I think it's a great idea staying at other places.

Pesronally I would stay in Fort Lauderdale, it's not too far from Miami and you also have Palm Beach closeby.

http://www.pelicanbeach.com/ is not cheap but very nice.

Just be wary of car parking at hotels down this coast, can be very expensive depending on where you stay, in Miami especially.

Naples we really like, quiet and classy, I can recommend this hotel which was called the Registry when we stayed there.

Sounds like a fantastic trip:thumbsup2

Would highly recommend the Marriott Marco Island - it is a fabulous hotel on the beach, two pools (one with waterfall), a wonderful spa, the most fantastic sunsets from your room - and there are some fab restaurants are around the island.

Thanks for those.

I especially like the look of the Naples Grande Resort and will definately be looking at prices for one of the bungalows. The prices around at the moment for this August seem very reasonable.

Any more suggestions?
