Can anybody recommend a hotel on the main driving route to DLP.

Rather than get up at 5am for the Eurotunnel we thought we might go the night before.

I have stayed a the Ibis in Calais but wanted to go to a hotel a bit further along the route - also dont really want to pay a lot for money either.

2 adults and 2 children.

Any suggestions?

I'll be watching this with interest.

We've worked out the 5am start in Folkestone followed by a whole morning in the car isn't a great idea for our first day in DLP (after doing it twice ), so we're planning on a stopover near DLP for next year's trip.

We drove in February and to be honest, the 5am start was fine for us (4 adults, 3 kids). The kids and the ladies slept most of the way there and were fine when we got there, just after 1pm.

That's what I'm hoping to do - sleep (hopefully little ones will too!) whilst my DH drives us there! We're booked onto the 6:50 crossing and will have a 3.5hr drive there first .. yawn!!

Would it be worth staying this side and getting a slightly later crossing? We stayed at the Premier Inn (Ashford Central) when going by Eurostar both times last year and I managed to get a room for £29 during one of their sales. Travel Inns are often cheaper still.

I really don't like that early start. It wipes me out, and I spend the first day in one of those weird dream-like states!

I've been looking online this afternoon, and there are a few Campaniles nearby, one at Marne la Vallee I think, that have rooms from £39. I'm not fussed about anything more than basic accommodation with it being somewhere just to sleep and shower. Breakfast can be found in the park :yay:
