Looking for some opinions on how to handle the day before we check into AKL for a week this summer.

Some background, we are driving from NY, stopping half way. Arriving to Orlando 8/1. Our week at AKL starts 8/2. My original plan was check in on 8/1 in the afternoon to a Disney springs hotel. On 8/1 we were going to walk around Disney springs. Wake up 8/2 and drive to typhoon lagoon and then check in at AKL in the afternoon.

Then I started over thinking….

First i thought I should rent points for a 1 day stay on Disney property for fun on 8/1. Would this change the date we are allowed to go to the waterpark from 8/2 to 8/1? We would be on points 8/1 (no park tickets) and start a free dining promotion on 8/2.

I thought about adding a day at AKL onto our package but we are arriving later in the day 8/1 and I don’t think we will be up for the waterpark that day and the kids are excited to go.

If a Disney springs hotel is the best option for this scenario is there a favorite to stay for one night?

If you have two resort reservations, i.e. check in to one Disney resort 8/1 and check in to a different Disney resort on 8/2, the system reportedly will see that as two checkin days, and you’ll have free admission to the water park on both days. Yes, really! I’ve read many posts from people planning to take advantage of that.

Yep, we added a night to our reservation for an upcoming stay, it's a different room category so a split stay. We have two waterpark days on MDE. Nice perk.

Good to know! Thank you
Does that mean I could book dining reservations and multipass a day early for the whole trip?
