Ides post about swimming pools made me think to post this.

I think we are spoiled by Disney and how you can swim til midnight at the resort pools. now whenever we vacation anywhere else we are always disappointed with resort pools that close at say 7pm or earlier sometimes.

anyway, where have you gone besides Disney that allows swimming at night?

we have been to many places and so far the only place was a hotel in North Conway NH. The pool was open til about midnight ish.

Las Vegas - I think. I usually go off-season, but hotel pools are big out there.

Actually when we were out there last summer at the Flamingo we were surprised that pool closed early.

Any hotel I have ever stayed at the pool is open until midnight at least?? We just were in Duluth MN and I know they were had the pool open at the Radisson until at least midnight...

Yes, most Vegas pools close before the sun goes down. Gotta getcha to those tables and slots!!! ;)

I'm with you! My biggest pet peeve is a beautiful resort with a great pool that closes early. We love to have a nice dinner and end the evening relaxing in the pool. My kids are definitely part fish.

Loews hotels in Orlando keep their pools open late.:thumbsup2 They have beautiful pools!

Barcelo resorts keep their pools open late.

Las Vegas has quite a few pools that remain open at night.

Sandy Beach in Myrtle Beach has late night pool hours.

Dreams in Dominican Republic had night swimming.

Sandals in Jamaica has night swimming.

We're going to Beaches in August and I have to check if we can swim at night! I really HOPE so.

As I think of them I will add. :)

Great thread! :thumbsup2

I really can't think of anyplace we've been to where the pools closed early, most have always been open until at least 10 or 11 for nighttime swimming.

The only place that does come to mind was actually AT Disney and that was at Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club.

My DH prefers a 24hr pool...or at least midnight...he takes he swimming very seriously...and prefers to swim later, due to issues being in the sun

I cannot remember a place where at least one pool wasn't open until 11pm/midnight.

I know that some of the places I stayed at in Hawaii would close the slides/lazy rivers/fancy things, but there was always some part of the pool (or a separate pool) where you could swim late. Often, it was unguarded, but not closed.

I can tell you that there is a hotel in Milwaukee with an indoor pool that is open til midnight.

I know this because I had a room on the atrium which is where the pool is and I unfortunately had a 6am flight. The pool was open til midnight and was FULL of familes. Unfortunately, the management made no attempt to shoo people out, so the noise (which was horrendous) went on until at least 1am. 1am is when I gave up and went to sleep in the bathtub in the hopes of getting in a few hours before I had to wake up.

That was a strong lesson and why I now always ask what the hotel pool hours are and make my room requests accordingly.

Yes, we found that too. We were going on a long road trip with small kids and one of our stops was Vegas. I checked with most of the big hotels on the strip and all of them had pools that closed around 6 or 7 pm. We ended up staying about a mile off the strip at the Residence Inn Hughes Center, whose pool closed at 11 pm.

In general, when we vacation, we stay in Marriott brand hotels (Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, Courtyard, etc.) and the pools have always closed at 11 pm or midnight.

All the hotels I've stayed at in Vegas closed their pools early, some by 6 or 7. I guess they don't want you lounging in the sun for FREE, they want you at the slots!

Yep, they close early. We went there for the first time last year, stayed at the Hard Rock and at the MGM, and the many pools at both were closed by around 7 p.m. I couldn't believe it.

Just another reason why Vegas was not the place for us. But we also don't gamble. We only went because it was a work-related trip for my husband.

I have actually never encountered this problem. The hotels I've ever stayed at (resort wise) the pools stayed open until at least 10. Now that being said, IMO 10 is too early to close, I do think it should be midnight minimum. They could have a swim at your own risk policy after they want their lifeguards to go off duty.

Any hotels with pools that I've ever stayed at have usually been open until at least 9:30 or 10:00 PM. Never heard of one closing as early as 7PM. I'd be mighty unhappy if I were a guest in such a hotel, and management would hear a complaint from me about it.

I don't remember ever staying at a hotel where the pool closed that early but I'm personally glad that they close at 10 or 11. When we stay at a place with a 24 hour pool we always seem to be unlucky enough to be stuck in a room by the pool and people can be awfully noisy throughout the night. If the pool isn't by us, I couldn't care less how late it stays open.

I was surprised the first time we went to Hawaii and the pool at the Monana Surfrider closed at dusk. My DD was nowhere done swimming for the day! We ended up walking up and down Kalakaua. However, most of Hawaii can be pretty rural without a lot to do at night. I swear they roll up the sidewalks! Some Hawaiian resorts allow swimming after dusk but they will close the slide and pull the lifeguards.
