Hi, newbie here--We are coming to Orlando in early August. I need to get a room at the airport (with shuttle service) for our first night in town. From there we will take a car service to our resort for the rest of the week...

My question: does anyone know of a nice-ish hotel ($80-$110) with shuttle service from the airport that has a decent resturant within walking distance?

Thanks in advance!

I always suggest the Wingate -- they've got an Outback and Carrabba's nearby, and offer shuttle service. Rates from $95/night.

Have a great trip!

I just booked the Hyatt in MCO for $160 for 2 nites all in on hotwire. THere are a few posts around this topic but it seems to be a very nice hotel.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott last year. It was $89 + tax w/ AAA rate and included a great comp. breakfast. (yummy make your own waffles.)
Through Hotwire, we also got the Wingate for only $49 + tax and the Hyatt in MCO for $59 + tax. Wingate includes comp. breakfast but it wasn't as good as Fairfield's (pancakes were still frozen and you had to microwave them.) The building seemed very new but our AC unit leaked and soaked the carpet. I didn't realize it until I got out of bed and stepped into it.

Once you try the Hyatt you will fall in love with the convenience of it since it's right inside the airport terminal. I book it directly now when we have a really late flight and know we'll be too tired to deal with the shuttle. They will even fetch your luggage from baggage claim and deliver them to your room. Awesome service. :thumbsup2

Def. check out Hotwire. It's great for 1 nt. stays and will specify if the hotel offers shuttle from MCO.
good luck!!:goodvibes

Thank you for all the great information...I am checking looking at all of them.

I am a huge fan of both Carrabbas and Outback...Are there easy dinner options at the Hyatt in MCO?

Thanks again!

I've never used Hotwire before. It seems strange, so I don't know what hotel I'm booking? How do I know that it's the hotel I want?

About the Hyatt...No, you annot beat the location and convenience of being right in the airport, however last year our flight arrived late...almost midnight and all the food places were closed in the airport and the restaurant in the hotel was just closing. We ended up ordering room service and the wait was over an hour for a couple of burgers...but they were good!

I looked into booking throught Hotwire and the Hyatt at MCO doesn't show up for my night. It's a Saturday--maybe that's why.

What I need is a nice hotel with airport shuttle service, a pool and a couple of resturants within walking distance. Any come to mind?

We have also stayed here and it was very nice for the price (under $100). We ate at Tony Romas which was very good...I think there was breakfast but our flight was so early we didn't bother.

You don't know prior to buying. What you do know is an approx area (shaded area on a map), how many * ratings it is, price and a list of amenities which the hotel chooses to list. It may have more amenities than what is listed but can't list it if it's not offered. Example: pool, fitness center, airport shuttle, comp breakfast, etc.

I like HW for 1 nt. stays near the airport when we have a late arrival or pre-cruise. Let's say it's a 4* near MCO for $79? Do you really care if it's the Marriott or Sheraton or Renaissance? A lot of people really don't care which one they get. The Hyatt MCO is a great bonus to get cuz it's reg. price is so much higher than the hotels surrounding the airport and it's right inside the terminal. Its amenities are an exact match with the Renaissance. Sometimes they list the TA rating and then you can tell it will be the Hyatt. It's always 4.5/5 TA rating.
I think the only way you can go wrong is if you choose something lower than 3*.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express near the airport this past February. Very smooth and a nice shuttle included.

Just about every hotel chain is represented in the 2 mi. radius around MCO. I usually use Expedia to search an area but book directly with the hotel's website to get my AAA discount.

ETA: We stayed at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott last year. There was a Bennigans or TGIFriday's within walking distance and I think we walked past a Hilton too on the way. Fairfield had a nice comp breakfast with make-your-own waffles too. Shuttle service was prompt and courteous.

Thank you RUADISNEYFAN2 and everyone who gave me input...you've been very helpful. I have booked a night at the Fairfield Inn. It's not as many stars but you dis-ers (and others) have given it good reviews...

So thanks again for your help!

Sometime I'm going to get the nerve to try hotwire!

LeslieR: or you could go really dangerous and try 3* at MCO on Priceline. They all have airport shuttles and are close enough you can walk to the ones with open restaurants. I boycott Hooters, but that's just me.

We tried PL 2 yrs ago. We were given the Florida Mall hotel which was about 5 miles from MCO, not the 1-2 mile hotels I was expecting. Very nice hotel but further than what we really wanted. When I looked closely at PL's map, it was at the far western edge, still within the limits they advertised but at midnight, we were soooo tired, just wanted something really close. We had a car anyway but if you really must have airport shuttle, I'd stick with HW, if they list airport shuttle as an amenity, they have to have it.

We have always been close to the airport, whether at Marriott, either of the two Amerisuites or La Quinta.
