We may be flying in a day early and need a cheap clean room for one night near the airport with shuttle service back to the airport. Any suggestions? Thanks!

We are trying the Clarion near the airport in Nov., never stayed there before, but would love to hear any input anyone might have. I used the "price guarantee" and was able to book it for $39.60. They do have a shuttle, but we are renting a car. Since we don't have to be back to the airport until 5pm at the end of the trip , the price for the car would be the same as waiting till the next morning.

We also need a hotel by the airport for July. Expedia has a rate of $44.00 for the Clarion. It shows that it is a 3 star, but would like to hear from anyone who has stayed there if possible.

DisneyFreak43, What is the price guarantee and how do you get it?

Thanks for any information.

Lori

Lori- I learned about the "best rate guarantee" here on the Dis. I'll do my best to explain. I made a reservation on Clarions website first using the internet users rate (you can use any rate they offer other than AAA I think). Next, I went back and filled out the form from their website for "Best Choice Rate Guarantee", putting in the site I found the better rate at, and the price. About 30 min. later I checked my e-mail , and they had approved the lower rate, plus took an additional 10% off. The advantage to booking this way is you don't have to pre-pay the reservation (like you do on many of the discount sites), and there is no change or cancel fees involved. You have up until 24 hrs. before your reservation to cancel. I am still hoping someone here will give some feedback about this hotel- I'm not expecting The Ritz, but I don't want roaches! We will only be there about 10 hrs before moving to Royal Pacific.

I hope this helps!

We're back from our trip 2nd and 3rd wk of May. I decided to try Priceline for the first time. I had read biddingfortravel site and was still unsure before I took the dive.

I offered a 30.00 bid for 3 star orlando airport area. Denied. After two tries I was accepted at Renaissance Hotel for 1 night $50. At the end of our trip, we returned our rental at the airport and called hotel for shuttle. We were pleasantly surprised when we got to the hotel. I know others have gotten this hotel for less.

Thank you for the info DisneyFreak43. I will try to book the room that way. I too would like feedback before we go but may just have to wing it. Especially since it's only one night. If we do stay there it will be on July 11th so I will be able to let you know how it goes.

Thanks Lori- that would be great! If you have problems trying to book it, send me a pm- I'd be happy to help!

Well, I cancelled our reservation at Clarion Orlando Airport after reading trip reviews at tripadvisor.com. We will be staying at Fairfield Inn Orlando Airport on July 11th. It's a little more expensive than the Clarion but got decent reviews. I also forgot that my husband has stayed at the Fairfield and said it was nice. I will let you know how it goes. If you check out the trip advisor web site you can run any hotel in the box at the top left of the screen to get reviews.

I would take Trip Advisor's reviews w/ about 7 or 8 grains of salt. They're not known to be the most accurate, from what I've heard.

Anyway, Hotel Kingdom has the Comfort Suites on Conway Rd, 1 mi from the airport for 7/11 for $62.97/night. I don't know how that compares to your rate at FI. CS has a free aprport shuttle if you need that.

EDIT: had to change the price. The price I had was for June 11, not July. Sorry!

Also, there is a brand new Best Western at the airport listed for 53.81 std room, 68.70 std suite.

I checked trip advisor for reviews of the Clarion and it looked like they had mixed up the locations- a couple of the reviews were for the "Maingate" location. I called the hotel myself before I made my reservation, and asked about the breakfast coupons- it seems you need to ask for them at check-in. Hopefully we won't have a problem getting non-smoking rooms though. If anyone here stays at this place before we do, could you please post your experience? Thanks!
