Ok. We got spared by Jeanne in Miami Dade ! Thinking of you up north ..
Question: I am suppose to cruise sep 30th on the Wonder from Port Canaveral. I am not sure if we will be able to stop in Castaway (hopefully yes ..). I was planning to stay onboard for the Nassau stop, however if we have no chance to stop in CC - If someone could explain me what is the story about getting a room in the Atlantis hotel or another one and be able to access the pool and the aquarium ? I am travelling with an 18 months and a 3 year old. Is it recommended ? I already went to the Atlantis long time ago, but we were not allowed to use the facilities and the pool and we paid something like $ 40.00. Should I take the excursion with the ship ? on my own ? Do my kids have to pay ?
Have you heard about port changes for my cruise ? the disney web site is not up to date and shows info from last Friday 5pm. However in the mean time, all ports from Florida were closed. TKS

Hey what's up just came back from my 9/11 cruise out of port canaveral and we FORTUNATELY had to dock in Nassau.

We did book the excursion to ATlantis and it was worth evey single dollar you not only have acces to the private beach but also have a complimentry lunch and acces to the hotel slides and massive aquarium (a must see).. The prices are 60$ for adults
and 45 for kids 3 and over i believe kids are free under 3 yrs.
The only down side i would say is the people who arrass you to brade your hair or sell you t-shirts. They have some Jet-ski
operators on site and it cost about 50$ for 30min and 90$ for 1hr.
if you take it for 1hr you can actually go to a separate island where they have the dolphin cove...also amust see....have fun
 :smooth:

you used the slides??
I have been told/and heard on MANY posts that you
CANNOT use the slides with the excursion, that they
require special colored wristbands??

did you actually go down the slides w/o the special bands?

You know. When I went to the Atlantis a few years ago, I actually used the slides for about 2 hours and the pools. We had no clue it wasn't included in the aquarium tour. Perhaps because we were foreigners ... I did all the slides (sharks included) .. after a while, one guy came to us and said we weren't allowed but it was time to go back to our ship "anyway" and it was late. At the time, they were building a private beach on the side of the hotel, it might be the beach you are talking about. I guess, it all depends who's watching the slides, I am pretty sure you could try ... they won't arrest you for this ??

I cannot afford to take the chance i can or cannot.
I have booked a room at the comfort suites for $160 for the
day.

You have to book a room at Atlantis, or Comfort INN to use the pool and Slides. The Disney excursion DOES NOT include rhe pool and slides. We booked a room last October and they Had employees checking for bands at every exit from the hotel to the pool area. I have read about a few people who snuck in, but personally I wouln't take the chance. If you want to use the slides book a room. it is cheaper for a family if 4 than the Disney excursion to Atlantis.

With the unstable weather conditions, go to cable beach. It's free. Then if it's raining or if you can't dock, you won't lose any money. The Wynham Crystal Palace is great.

We were on the Wonder on 9/9 - right after Frances (which we rode out in the Beach Club hotel!) We booked the Discover Atlantis tour, and also I had heard about the Comfort Suites and being able to use the slides, so we had booked a room, and we were told we had to cancel 5 days out. Sooooo, that meant that we had until Monday to cancel. Frances blew through on Sunday and on Monday DCL had no idea if we were even going to Nassau. We called Comfort Suites and cancelled our ressie. Then, on about Wednesday when things were a little more normal, we found out we WOULD be going to Nassau and called Comfort Suites and got a reservation again. No problem, they were not real full (LOL).

Anyway, we went on Discover Atlantis, which was pretty cool, but it took a lot of time. We waited for the van to take us there, we learned some cool stuff from our driver, we went through the aquarium and the "dig" then got our room at the Comfort Suites. I don't know. I think next time we would just take a taxi and jet to Paradise Island and skip all the other stuff. DH decided to not swim and go to the casino and won enough money to pay for the room.

We went to Nassau on the 9/11 western cruise....And ended up doing Atlantis on our own. If your booking a day room at either Atlantis or Comfort Suites...it dosn't make ANY sence to also book the Disney excursion to Atlantis "Discover Atlantis"...or the "Atlantis Beach day"...Since your paying for a room...you get everything...and MUCH MUCH more without doing Disney.

It's true...you HAVE to be a guest of the hotels (Atlantis or Comfort Suits) to use everything at Atlantis. By doing the Disney excursion...all you do is the long...long...walking tour and aquairum...and of course the casino if you like...NO pool, water park or water toys. Of course there may be a few who skip by the many guards and watch people...but I know I wouldn't want to take that chance. And when we were there the week of 9/11 they were checking and monitoring everyarea.

We caught a taxi (a limo taxi) just off from the pier where the ship docks...it cost us 21.00 for the four of us to get there....on the way back we took a regular...taxi van...thinking it would be cheeper on the way back....Boy were we WRONG...well it was a little cheeper....5$ cheeper....but we also had to share it with another family....so to have the limo by ourselfs for 5 buck more...was way worth it.
